Question about Samsung Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have a Samsung LCD TV (LA27T51B) and have just bought a Panasonci DVD Recorder (DMR-EH59). The cable included with the recorder has 3 connections but I can only see the 2 audio connections on my Samsung. How do I connect the video?

The video inputs on the TV are not coded for the cable that was included with the recorder.

My TV has a DVI port but I do not have a cable for this. Should I buy a special cable for this connection?

Thank you for this reply. If I remove my DVD player cable then I can put the AV cable into the correct 3 in ports. However, I also have an RF Coaxial cable from the dvd recorder but no place to put the cable I have into my TV. The diagram in my manual shows a television with a VHF/UHF RF in port. As you showed in your image there is no such thing on my SamsungTv. What do I do?

I am still having a problem. I can connect using the 2 RCA cables but this means I do not have my old DVD player available. I bought a Component Video Cable and used this plus the RCA audio cable to connect the 2 devices. The only trouble with this is I cannot pick the correct input source on my Samsung TV as the Component 1 and Component 2 choices are greyed out. How can I change this?

I appreciated the image of the back of my Tv as it was helpful in identifying the component cable I needed

Hi.

The possible connections that you can use are :

  1. AV cables- three cables -yellow video/red+white audio
  2. Component cables - 5 cables - three red green blue video / red+white audio
  3. DVI - DVI connector/red+white audio
  4. VGA no audio

You may need to buy some cable. If you are not using the computer, do not use DVI.
Possibly use the component cable, if not available on DVD use AV cables.

Here spare cables in Au$:

RGB Component Cable 3 RCA to 3 RCA

RCA Cable, AV Cable

If there is a AV channel in the LCD then there should be the Video input and the two audio inputs L&R. If your set is not having the video input it is possible there is some other source of input inthe rear panel. So please check this out inthe front and rear panels to confirm.
Also if there is AV terminal then there must be a video input.
Please check this out and confirm. If the set is mono then one of the terminals at the rear must be for Video-Yellow input.

How to set the time on dmr eh59

Automatic clock setting is done if you initially accept to use the guide plus system (should do). Only if for some reason it does not work, you can set the clock manually following these steps Clock Usually, the unit's setup function automatically adjusts the
clock to correct time. Under some reception conditions, however,
the unit cannot set the clock automatically.
In this case, follow the operation steps below to manually set the clock.
1 Press [3, 4] to select "Off" of "Automatic" and press
[OK].
2 Press [2, 1] to select the item you want to change.
The items change as follows:
Hour,Minute,Second,Day,Month.Year

3 Press [3, 4] to change the setting.
You can also use the numbered buttons for setting.
4 Press [OK] when you have finished the settings.
The clock starts.
If a TV station transmits a time setting signal, and when
"Automatic" in the Clock setting menu is set to "On", the automatic
time correction function checks the time and if necessary it is
adjusted several times every day.

Connect dvd recorder to cable box and hdtv

I have posted a tip that should help you out with your problem follow the link below but there is one minor variation for connecting to your TV.

On step 3 of the connections section substitute the follow for your situation.

You will need 1 component cable (Red/Blue/Green/Red/White cable)

3) Connect the Green/Blue/Red connectors to the back of the DVR labeled "COMPONENT OUT" matching the colors. Connect the same ends to the input of the back of the TV again matching the colors.

4) Connect the last two connectors (Red/White) to the back of the DVR to the AUDIO IN on the TV.

Other than this variation all shoud be the same.

Good Luck...

Can I watch tv with the timer on the dvd recorder turned on?

Hook up the cable wire that comes directly from the wall to the dvd recorder's in connection, then get a 3 ft cable cord and connect from the out of the dvd recorder to the in on the tv. You should be able to set the dvd recorder channel and timer and leave it off. you then should be able to have your tv on and watch any station but to watch the tv with dvd recorder on, your tv should be set to either channel 3 or 4 depending on the switch on back of dvd recorder. I hope this solves your problem. Foxpaw13

Direct tv hdbox & Plasma TV & DVD SSound system & DVD recorder

Need to make sure you have the red, white, and yellow rca connection cables ran from the samsung dvd player to the red, white, yellow input on the back of the dvd recorder. Once you do that make sure you put your dvd recorder on line 1 input. If you look closely on the back of your recorder it should say line 1 input. If your recorder isn't on that input you can put the recorder on line 1 input by using dvd recorder remote and pushing the input button. Make sure you don't push the tv input button the dvd recorder remote there should be a seperate input button or a way to toggle the inputs on the recorder. Once you verify all that turn on your tv and go to the input on your tv that you watch the dvd recorder on and you should see what your recording on the tv.
