- I also bought a Canon PowerShot A70 and suddenly a few months ago it went black in picture taking mode and now will only take pictures in black. Does anyone have the 800 number to call. I bought 3 years ago so I don't have the number. I went to the store and bought new batteries I thought that would fix problem, but didn't.- amarti07Jun 06, 2008
- I have the same problem, I followed the link in the Solution below, and called Canon using the 800 number listed there. They agree it sounds like the known CCD problem, and they are sending me a label to send the camera to them for free, for a free evaluation and repair if that turns out to be the issue.Definitely contact Canon, they were a huge help

Screen on my A70 is blank. Sometimes if I turn it on and off several times it will work. Now it does not seem to want to work after I've turned it on and off quiet a few times.

LCD screen is black and pictures are black. Shutter seems OK. Display for previous pictures is fine.
