Question about HP OfficeJet Pro k550 Printer

1 Answer

On Mac OS 10.5.3. When printing from an application, such as the Firefox web browser or Preview image/document viewer, it will print just the top 10-20% of the page and then ejects the paper and flashes both green and yellow lights. I can print a diagnostic page, which has the following lines: ID Time Event Page Count Description 4 - 9000-0001 1861 Firmware Upgraded 3 2010-09-06 012C-070A 1859 Firmware Error 2 2010-07-09 012C-070A 1857 Firmware Error 1 - 9000-0001 398 Firmware Upgraded

As it turns out, I found my solution on another site. I had a cartridge that had expired and to recover I had to hold POWER while hitting the Paper Feed(?) button 3 times. It is now working.

    Thank you for your response.

HPs are famous for getting squirrely after updates that may be designed for a further update in an OS. It's a good chance that if you were running Leopard up at 10.5.9 that you wouldn't be seeing this issue.

After years of battling with a zillion different HP printers and different OS's, Windows and Mac, I've gotten to the point where I just uninstall and reinstall the printer when clients start getting half pages and other goofy crud.

Best Regards,

Marcus

How to change font size

The font size that appears within printed documents has to be adjusted in the application you are printing from. For example, if you are printing a Microsoft Word document, change the font while editing the document in Word. If you are printing a web page, you will need to change the font in the web browser settings (Chrom, Firefox, IE)... for Chrome, here are the steps:

  1. Click the Chrome menu snp_2696434_en_v1 on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Show advanced settings.
  4. In the "Web Content" section, use the "Font size" drop-down menu to make adjustments.
Some websites prevent the browser from changing just text size. For those sites, Chrome won't be able to adjust the font size.

Scan wont work on mac psc 1410v

First are you trying to scan using the scan button on the all-in-one or from the computer? If you are trying to use the scan buttons, you need to install the HP full-feature software package: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=458978#N193 . (If you need to expand the section marked drivers.) Uninstall the printer and disconnect the data cable before installing this full software.

If you installed the basic drivers that came with the Mac OS, you can scan using Apple Preview and Image Capture software. You can also acquire a scan from the Print & Fax > Printer browser. Open the software from the dock or from the Applications folder. In Apple Preview, choose File > Import from Scanner. In the Image Capture program select the all-in-one from the list of devices.

For the Print and Scan. Open System Preferences from the Apple Menu. Click Print & Fax and select the all-in-one. Click the Scan tab and Open Scanner. Then click Scan.

With the HP software you can launch a scan from the computer or from the scanner (but only if the monitoring program is running). You need to set up the HP Utility for the scan task manager.
This site has the full set of steps: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02456650&tmp_task=useCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=458978#N2158 .

Sometimes an all-in-one will work for printing but not for scanning due to a damaged cable. Scanning requires bi-directional communication with the printer. Try replacing the data cable. If you use a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection to the computer.

I hope this helps.

How do i flip an image to print on fabric transfer? I am using a mac and a Lexmark x5470

To flip an image open the image in Preview. In most cases, you just need to double-click the image unless you have installed another image editing software.
In that case, right click on the image and choose Open With > Preview.
This will open the image in Preview.
Go to Tools > Flip Horizontal.
The image has now been mirrored for printing.
You can print directly from Preview if you like, or choose File > Save and open the image up in your preferred printing application.

I get an error message when trying to print something ''an unknown error occurred while printing'' using firefox on MAC OS X 10.4

Does it do this with any other browser or just Firefox? Try another browser and that will tell you if it is just a setting problem in Firefox or not. If unable to print on any browser then hook the printer directly to the mac with a usb cable and try re-installing the printer.

Image enlarging when plating!

hi pip,
check your mac properties, if it is a PC powerchip, you may have to enable "Rosetta" in the indesign applications properties folder.
this may resolve the file print size conversion process.
Rosetta is inbuilt in mac with this type of powerchip, and when activated, works in the background..
http://www.apple.com/rosetta/ this link will give u an insight
not sure this is your answer....cheers rooboy

Hp officejet 6110xi all in one

I did a search of your product's help pages on HP.com but didn't come up with an exact match for your error message relevant to an Apple Mac OS X. Before offering suggestions, let me make sure I understand the problem.

You have a Word document open on your Mac and you want to insert an image into the document that's on the scanner.

I'm actually not clear as to whether you successfully scanned an image in the first place. If you did scan the image, where did you store it to? Have you tried scanning the image and saving it to your computer? If you can do this successfully, try inserting the image into your Word document from the location on your computer.

If you tried to scan an image and got the error message, then there is a communication problem between your Mac and the printer. Since you can print, the cable connection must be good. If the error message is suggesting that you reinstall the drivers, you can find the instructions for how to do this at the following web page at HP.com:

Installing and Uninstalling Printer Software on your Mac

You may or may not have your original software disc that came with the printer. If you don't or if you need an updated print driver, you can download that software from the following web page, assuming you are running Mac OS X:

Mac OS X Printer Software and Driver Downloads

Occasionally, you can solve errors by installing print drivers that are more recent than those you originally installed when you first got your printer. That's the benefit of downloading the latest drivers from HP.

On the off change you are using Mac OS 9, here's the relevant software download page (the version of the Mac operating system matters):

Mac OS 9 Printer Software and Driver Downloads

If all you want to do is to insert an image into a Word document, you shouldn't need Adobe Photoshop or any other expensive software application. You aren't trying to do any fancy editing of the graphic, just insert a pre-existing image into a document.

I hope some of the above suggestions help. Post back your results and good luck.
