When you open the face, there should be a catch on the bottom in the middle, press that catch and pull the face towards you.

I have lost the faceplate for my 08 Pioneer DEH-P4050UB

Time to get a new head unit! In all my years of installing car audio, unless you know someone with a faceplate from an old broken unit, you'r out of luck. If you do find a source for just facerplates, please let me know

Need to add rear speakers, unit is hooked to amp, amp not hot, trying to take unit out of dash to see hook up

If you're hooked to an amp, the amp will connect to the RCA jacks on the back of the head unit for line-out.

Are you asking for help getting the unit out of the dash? If so, it's a standard DIN sleeve unit, and you'll need a pair of DIN keys.
Remove the faceplate and the bezel around the faceplate, and insert the keys on either side of the unit to unlock it from the sleeve. Once that's done, it will slide forward, right out of the sleeve.

The front right side of the screen is flickering

Its a lil pricey but its actually an issue with the faceplate...the display has to be replaced. Its a common problem on the pioneer decks with the motorized faceplates. look on ebay for just a faceplate.

Pioneer deq 7600 display went black today the eq works fine.

the faceplate contacts may need to be cleaned. remove the faceplate, and using an eraser, clean the metal tabs on the main unit and rear of the faceplate.
If this doesnt remedy the problem, service is required. May be the light unit in the faceplate.

PLEASE FIRST CHECK THE FACEPLATE TO HEAD UNIT CONNECTIONS (WHERE THE FACEPLATE CONTACTS THE HEAD UNIT ).
THEN IF U ARE SATISFIED ,REPLACE THE ENTIRE RECEIVER.

Avh-p5900dvd... I keep getting error -02-9e and it wont play cd,s or dvd,s can you help.

Owner's manual doesn't really say what the -02-9e error code means other than a disc error. They do recommend resetting the unit as a possible solution:
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Remove the faceplate.
  3. On the right side of the front of the head unit (with the faceplate removed), press the reset button with a ball point pen.
You may have to call Pioneer directly to find out what the -02-9e code means specifically. 1-800-421-1404

Unit powers down when faceplate attempts to go to open position

Same thing happened to me twice.

Its the crappy ribbon cable that connects the faceplate to the head unit.

Its only about $12 (USD) from Pioneer directly.

It comes with instructions, its not that difficult.

Best of Luck.
