Its either the convergence power supply or the convergence board that you need to replace. Go to this site and leave them an email with your model number and what the symptom is they will be able to tell you for sure.

Red shadowing is really annoying. Can anything be done to fix it?

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
•Screen looks 3D
•Colors don't line up
•One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
•Screen is bowed or warped.
•TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Picture problems

Is it one color that has moved? Sounds like a convergence problem. Find a channel with a fixed picture, or if you have digital cable or satellite pull up a guide, something with a straight line across the screen. You will likely see one of the colors is bowed or or shifted. You may be able to adjust that with your remote under the "convergence" adjustments in the menu. If it will not adjust it will need work done to the convergence circuit. Not a DIY project.

Rca d52w20 convergence is not working. The auto and the manual adjustments won't work to fix it. The repair guy said $400.00 to $500.00 to fix. That seems affually high. Is this somrthing I can do myself?

You can fix it yourself for less than 45.00 by getting a simple repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Screen looks 3d and schrunk

this is an indication of convergence failure. on these model the first suggestion or more like question is this do you have the convergence option in the customer setup menu? If you dont i suggest you read the fl231 problem in the tips and tricks section of this website. If you do and you still have the bow tie three d effect then the next solution is to replace what is known as convergence power supply. note when you start replaceing the boards that effect convergence it may need adjusting that a technician needs to do

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

CONVERGENCE ISSUE *UPDATED* RCA HD52W63D

Convergence Power supply board. In the television above the cuircit boards there are two curcit boards that sort of hang above. the one on the right is the convergence amplifer board(has metal fin like heat sinks).. The one on the left is the convergence power board. Since you have options and no control, bowing picture. this would be my first choice. Now it still may have convergence amplier trouble. To get these boards you will have to get the entire model with suffix ext. it will be like d52w20...yx1 yx2 or something like that. in small leter on the model sticker on back
