Question about X2Gen MW22U Monitor

Monitor seems to be in a perpetual sleep mode. the amber power light is always on and will not go off no matter how often or how long I press it. it goes off only when I unplug the power cord. when I plug the cord back in I get the amber light again. for several weeks when I turned the computer on I have had to wait between 15 minutes and a half hour before the screen comes on preceded by a series of knocking noises. today I turned the computer on in the morning and all I've gotten is that amber light but for the first time the monitor screen has not come on at all.     Thanks. I'm afraid you're right, the monitor apparently has died. I bought the monitor in 2007 with a Citibank Master Card. I'll contact them to see if they are as generous as American Express with refunds.

It sounds like the actual screen has a problem. Go ahead and turn off the monitor, then unplug the data / vga cable (the other cable besides the power cable) and turn it back on. Do you get a no signal error or anything on screen, or does the light stay amber? If it is still amber this means it is having internal failure, more or less the monitor has died. How old is this monitor? Did you purchase it with a major credit card? If so many credit cards cover electronics such as this for 5 years regardless of the manufacturer's warranty. I know for example that American Express definitely does this, and they would give you a full refund on the monitor if you purchased it with their card. I know it sounds too good to be true but I assure you it is, I've done it a handful of times without issue.

Please let me know what you find, but I would bet the monitor has failed. Luckily you can buy replacements very inexpensively, for example this would be a great replacement:

Inspiron 518 - intermittent power up, amber light blinks once and then stays off


Usually if it has boot issues it is from the ram memory ..specially if it does like you said ..only ask for repeated action when it is cold..So , check the ram memory to be well plugged in ..and if you made changes , check for the specs on the newer ram module and be sure it is not on a higher speed or so ..cause it will not read it well and issues will be caused by it ..
another thing can be some bad points on the hard disk ..and if you get a bad on the system it may fail to load for good..The idea is to reinstall the operation system from scratch using a boot-able disk ..and this may fix the issue for the moment ..until it will be stuck with a system file in a weak point ..
The reinstalling is recommended also in case you added more ram memory and never reinstalled This action will force the computer to recognize the ram memory in proper way and run better ..
If you see it is always makes issues when you put it to sleep mode or shut down ..you may enable the hibernate mode (from the power management panel ..(somewhere near the screen saver settings in the desktop properties ) ..and after that select for the actions when you press the main button to go to hibernate mode..This mode will always save what you have running and it is slightly different from the shut down cause it saves the running program and teh configuration used on moment ..and just load back the same way ..and it may force it to use the same points on the hard disk all over again when it starts ..
I used this mode on computers with hard disk issues and it always worked better than starting over again ..

Monitor will not awake from sleep mode. Pilot light is amber when asleep. If the monitor is turned off pilot light goes from amber to off or black or nothing. Turning the monitor back on the pilot light...


That means your monitor is not receiving a signal from your video card.

A couple things to check:
*Make sure your cable is ok - unplug and replug the cable to see if it is a loose connection. Or try a different cable.

*Make sure your computer is not in sleep mode - Move your mouse or otherwise ensure your computer is awake and sending a video signal

*If you have another computer, try the monitor on the other system and see if it works.

Hello,
May be the problem comes from the Cpu.
Try to see if the cable from the monitor is firmly connected to the cpu.
One thing more may be the vga card is having problem.
Try to test the screen with another Cpu. Or the cpu with another monitor.
The amber mode is normal as the screen is not receiving signal from the cpu.
At times the memory chip also report this problem (no display or sleep mode)
Do hear any beep sound or any other Errors??

The amber power light indicates that your computer has been "sleeping" or "hibernating" and usually all it takes to restart the computer is tapping a key on the keyboard. If this is not the case, try holding the Power switch down for 6-10 seconds to force the system off. Restart in Safe Mode and try to find the settings for Sleep/hibernate, open the control panel and open the Screen Saver. Select "Change Power Settings" and set it for "Never" on sleep and hybernate.

My dell pc still not working


An orange/amber light is almost always a power problem. Is the amber light on the monitor or the PC itself? I'm assuming the PC since you have the ability to read the screen. Your best bet is to check your power supply in the PC. Do you have a power supply tester (about $20) or another PC? You can switch them out and see if the orange light follows the power supply. Let me know what you find out.

Power on


connect the monitor to pc and press the power button to make it to the power on mode. you must have used your keyboard to make it on sleep mode.
