Do not panic when your devices start to malfunction, it is just a minor problem that can be fixed easily. The reason it does not get pass the introductory page is because a file that supports its operation is missing.
What you have to do is to reset your device using a computer. Data transfer might not work properly if the connection to your computer is through a USB hub or keyboard.
Reset your navigation device by holding the power button for about 15 seconds, then it restarts itself.
Connect your navigation device to your computer, then switch on your device.
Tom tom home starts, is the page you first get.
If home offers new application, click 'back',
Delete the tom tom application from your device and computer by clicking 'manage my navigation device',
Reinstall the application by clicking 'update my device',
Safely disconnect your device.
If the device still does not get passed the introductory page then you need to try backing up and restoring your device.
That should do the job.
Try clicking on the main part of the screen during navigation. Then click on the "wrench" icon (Change preferences). Then click the blue arrow (2x) until you get to the 3rd page (Preferences 3 of 5). Click on Manage maps. Then click on Switch map. Then select USA & Canada.
