Wont cycle to dry clothes

When the dryer door is open, you should be able to find a switch (it may be just a button protruding from the cabinet). The switch turns the machine off when the door is opened. It may be damaged or worn out.

Dryer blows cool, not hot, air

Clean the burner exhaust and intake vents of dust and lint. Make sure the gas is turned on to the machine. Watch the burner while trying to dry clothes--the igniter should turn red, then the main valve should open to start the burner. If the plate turns red, but no fire, the control valve assembly may need to be replaced. Is the unit under warranty? If so, you may need to take advantage. Hope this helps!

Black carbon/soot on the door and lint filter of my dryer

I have the same problem with a Maytag Performa gas dryer. My husband took our dryer apart and found that the burner tube which leads from the burner to the back of the dryer was full of soot (which was getting blown back into the dryer drum with the hot air.) We are cleaning it out now but would like to know how to prevent this from recurring in the future.

Burner turns off too soon. Clothes don't dry.

Most likely you have a clogged vent system that is going to the outside.try this remove the flex venting from the back of the unit and then start up the unit see if it still does it if not you wil need to clean out your venting if it still does it your cycle stat willl need to be replaced
