Question about Pioneer SD-P50A5-K 50" Rear Projection Television

Pioneer SD-P40 Hello all,With all the power outages and so forth my Pioneer SD-P40 has decided not to power up completely. I have the green power light but no sound or picture. I have done the easy stuff like check fuses and a the TP's with given voltages, all read good on my DVM but it is almost impossible to find any schematics or photofacts for this TV. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bryan 1986 unit has been sitting for 10 years since failed. Kept blowing 1.25 A fuse on flyback transformer board. Recently cleaned and reseated all connectors and now powers up giving audio, tunes channels, but still blows same fuse, no video. No wires appear shorted, no components appear over heates or burned out... pulled flyback board and see no cold solder joints. Is there a common problem fix for this unit that could fix this problem? What should I look for and are there any module/board replacements available?

Hello,

Pioneer SD-P40 , got a shorted power from the input regulator. Please do a continuity test from the input power to the vertical and horizontal projection board.

the 1986 units. there is still problem on that since it always blow the the fuse u inserted. means theres a part that is not function properly better that only the fuse always blown out to protect some circuit. do also the continuity test on that ..speifically on the voltage regulator . this only the mean cause of fuse blown out.

I wouldn't think there are any boards available for this model.
Try to install a 60W light instead of the 1.25A fuse, that will allow you to check for some components overheating and shorting out.
It could have a shorted flyback transformer.

Did you have double image before changing the stk's ? If not then there was no need to change them.. Pioneers are known for bad solder connections especially in the power supply section.. suggest checking that when you changed the stk's that there are no solder bridges between the pins of either stk ICs

Have you tried to do set the convergence with a pattern on the screen? Some tv's have the pattern built right into the setup. Others do it auto just by pushing a button. Adjusting the pattern on one side of the screen may affect the other side, depending on how far out of whack it is.

Magnets (speakers) near by will play havoc with convergence.
