SOURCE: Trying to open up joybook 8100

If you look very carefully at the top of the keyboard in the recess there are 3 tabs that can be pushed back towards the screen with a knife blade and you can lift the top of the keyboard out and remove it. You will then find 3 silver screws that hold the top to the bottom. Three cables need to be removed from their sockets and the cables that connect to the network card (a black and a grey wire) the connectors just pull off. Use a small screwdriver to prise them up gently. Voila the laptop is now in two pieces.

Are you asking where the hard drive is located?

If so, remove the power cord, turn the laptop over and remove the battery, then look for a covering that will probably have 3 or 4 circular discs on it. Remove the screws from the cover and the hard drive will be inside the bay. Remove the screws if any that holds the hard drive in the bay then slide it back to pull it out. Once you have the hard drive out, it might be inside a caddy and secured with 4 screws.

If the hard drive is not located on the bottom of your laptop, then it is under the keyboard or plamrest which means you'll have to take them apart to get to it.

My benq joybook r45 won't boot. the battery is fine.. the screen will go brighter/dimmer.. and attaching an lcd doesn't work.. what is wrong with this machine?

a number of things could be wrong- bad ram, bad motherboard. a bad hard drive will still usually get you a post screen. if you are at least getting a post screen, i would look towards hard drive issues.

My benq joybook says that one of the files is missing

You have corrupt system files on the hard drive which is why your getting that message. Try to go into safe mode. If you can get into safe mode, do a system restore back to the last date that the machine was working properly. If you can't get into safe mode then you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and restore it back to factory defaults. If you need help doing that, let me know and I'll be happy to help you further.

Hard Drive Replacement on Notebook

your computer might not able to support this capacity i suggest calling the manufacturer for Hardware compatibility, if it does not recognize, then the bios might not be able to recognize this big capacity, updating to higher version of bios might help but sometimes not, it all depends on your motherboard config.
