Check is it due to continuously working or there is some problem with the battery?? if nothing such then just try to keep the laptop at more ventilated place

Door will not close

check for operation of the latching mechanism..sometimes the grease on these gets really stiff in cold weather..when this happens the latch will not operate properly..spray with hot water to warm up the mechanism and then lubricate with wd40..as for the door sticking..rub dish soap or a soap bar on the weatherstripping..this will help to keep the door from sticking to the body in freezing temperatures.. if youre dealing with ice..use water at room temperature and pour it out over the door seal slowly..let it melt the ice out..do not use HOT water as this will break your windows due to extreme temperature change..good luck..

Gateway md2614u shut down

I would remove the heatsink and fan, clean the processor surfaces with methylated spirit or isopropanol, use new heatsink compound and that should fix your issue. Yes yes, heatsink pipe should get hot!

Laptop shut down

Sounds like it is getting too hot. Does it feel real hot when it shuts down? Is the fan and power supply working well and unobstructed so they get good air circulation?

My acer lap top is not working because it get heats up and shuts down automatically

First, Laptop shuts down by itself when the processor/ CPU temperature exceeds the safe temperature limit.
Laptop heating issue generally occurs due to fan failure, which may damage the system, if not checked properly. Another most likely cause of overheating is the dust present inside the laptop, which clogs the fan and heatsink.
1. Make sure the fan is running. (if not it needs replacement)
2. Clean the fan and heat sink (thermal module). Click here for laptop disassembly instructions and refer to
Removing the System Fan/Thermal Module after removing the outer cover. Take out the fan and heat sink. clean them with the help of tooth brush and put it back. Also, repair manual can be searched online or downloaded for referrence.
The procedure is very simple, but if you are not comfortable with working inside electronics, I suggest that you should get you laptop checked by a professional for servicing (if required). I believe immediate action is required to prevent any damage to your machine and data.

Hope it Helps! Let me know if i could be of any further assistance.

My Akai PTH5498 54 in. Rear Projection hdtv-ready Television power shuts off intermittently. Sometime after only a few minutes sometimes after an hour or so.

There could be number of problems but most likely its the horizontal chip that is heating up and failing. If you are a tech feel the chip after the set shuts of it's normal for it to get hot but not extremly hot. If it is extremly hot it is your problem.

Hp Pavilion zd8000 shuts down loosing all opened windows

There is a software called "SpeedFan" which you can download here

This software will tell you the internal temperatures of the computer (so you can figure out if overheating is the problem). Most of the time overheating is due to excessive dust inside the laptop. The best bet is to get a can of compressed air and clean the inside out. This does require some disassembling of the system, so if you are not comfortable doing so I would advise you to take it to a local computer shop.

Another solution would be to purchase a "Laptop Cooler", this will lower your temperatures anywhere from 5-10 degree's, but can get annoying to lug around with you. You can view some laptop coolers here

If you happen to run the Speedfan application, let us know what the temperatures displayed as, and I can tell you if it is running too hot!

My power adapter gets extremely hot

I agree that it could pose a fire hazard if allowed to get too hot. Contact Gateway and ask if they will replace it, especially if your computer is still under warranty. If you're no longer under warranty or if they refuse to replace it for you, new power adapters can be purchased for $30-100, depending on make and model.

Below is a link for your power adapter at Buy.com:

Hope this helps.

When i am working on my HP laptop Compaq 6515b, sometimes, it suddenly shuts donw, and the laptop itself is extremely hot. sometims, it took 5 mins to open a word file. Someone told me that maybe there...

Hi, the problem sounds to me like your CPU is overheating.
Have a look or have a technician look at the cooling fan and see if it is still working.
Most CPU's are set to shut down when over hot to prevent damage.

AVERATEC 3200

Sometimes laptops can get very hot in operation there are after market laptop Coolers that the laptop fits into/onto and has extra Fans to Cool the unit. Perhaps that would help... As long as the unit isn't getting so hot that it is faulting then it is most probably OK.. But my laptop gives me a "Warm Knee" when I use it for long periods.. Using the laptop on a hard surface helps too the air has to be able to flow to be cooled affectively.
