I get this situation, occasionally. If I unplug the laptop and let the battery drain for a while, then plug the charger back in, it will then show as charging normally. Good luck.

Your laptop still not charge even with the battery removed?
I guess you need a new adapter. Or you can test with a known working adapter first.
Specification of HP pavilion DV7 charger:
Output: DC19V 4.74A
DC Connecter (Barrel) size:
Internal Diameter: 5.0mm
External Diameter: 7.4mm
With central smart-pin inside

Hp pavilion dv-7-1245dx --keep shutting down after a few seconds

If the computer's battery is bad it won't stay on. If the fan is plugged up and over heats quickly, then the computer will shut itself down. I would start with those. Wouldn't be bad to check that your memory chips are in securely as well.

Hp pavilion dv6000 battery not chargering

First try to reset the battery to see if it helps any by doing the following: Turn off all power saver settings on your laptop, disconnect the laptop for the ac adapter. Then use your laptop and run the battery down ignoring any low battery messages until it dies. Then let it fully charge for a night without turning it on, and see if it has saved any charge. If it still hasn't saved any charge, it seems like the only option is that its a dead battery and needs to be replaced. Best of luck!

My HP Pavilion dv5215us PC Notebook will not turn on. The screen stays blank. Also it will not turn on when the battery is removed and the charger is still plugged into the PC. What is my problem?

Try removeing the battery, memory and harddrive.
If you can get to the CMOS battery, unplug it as well.
Open the lid and push and hold the start button for 30 seconds.
Re-install the removed items and power up unit.

Laptop turns off intantly, when I unplug the charging cord

For those of you having the problem of a HP laptop shutting off when you unplug the charger and your battery is fully charged, I can help you. There is nothing wrong with the laptop, battery, or computer, it is a power management setting. If you go to display properties, select the screen saver tab, then click the "power" button, in the power schemes field is a drop down window, click on it and select "Rixane Power Scheme", it is a power switching utility that quickly switches between AC and Battery when the power cable/charger is plugged in or unplugged while the laptop is on. If you have it set to "always on" it will shut off when you pull the power cord, even if the battery is charged. This will also happen on many non-HP laptops, if you don't have a HP laptop or there is not a "Rixane" option available, select the "Portable/Laptop" power scheme. Hope this helps!
