Thanks but there is no problem with the provider. My wife uses her wireless laptop with the same router. I also have a wireless adapter which works fine ( am using it now) but with limited USB ports prefer to use the cable. I have another brand new cable and it didn't help. Have turned the router off for a few minutes and on again with no change. The cable connection did the same a couple of months ago but I can't remember what I did to get it working again.

Have tried all four ports with same result. The computer says "connected" but can't access internet.

Thanks for your help. Fixed the problem but don't know what caused the problem in the first place. Much appreciated.

Let's go and click on start - settings - conrol panel - network connections - right click on local area connection - properties - choose Internet protocol (TCP?IP) - properties. In case of not at automatically settings click on both buttons to "obtain an IP address automatically" and "obtain DNS server address automatically". Your screen has to be like this:

Click on OK at both windows and check for the results.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

Thanks for accepting my solution. These settings can be change either manually (as we did it) or through computer software or game installation. Usually at this case there is no problem since the program reads the real settings. In case that a router change (another brand) the problem comes up. The computer tries to connect at the gateway that the previous router had with no success e.t.c. I've to tell you that also trojans or viruses sometimes change these settings. This is not for get you afraid of, but just to inform you and keep yourself safe.

Hello,

Have you contacted your network service provider to find out if your subscription as expired or if the server from their end is down? It might be a problem from your network service provider, i will advice you contact your network service provider to know what is their status on their network and the status of your subscription and modem with the problem and error you are getting.

Also, the cable might be defective, you might nee to get another cable to connect to the router, see if that will fix the problem.

Take care.

    Hello,

The port you connect the cable to on the router might be bad, try use another port on the router and see if it same problem, but am quite sure the port is the problem since you said the cable you have is ok, then the port should be the problem.

Eror 105 wifi

Error 105 is one of the most commonly faced errors by a lot of users everyday who are using Google chrome
Error 105 is a DNS resolution error. - Which means when you enter the URL of the website and hit enter in Google chrome, it tries to resolve the IP address of the website using a protocol called DNS (Domain Name System). If chrome is unable to reach the DNS server, the name resolution fails and you get the error 105.
Solution:
Once you have verified from your internet service provider that there is no problem on their end, follow the step by step instructions below.
We are simply going to add a manual DNS address in Windows so that chrome is able to resolve DNS queries.
1) Press [Windows Key + R] to open the "RUN Dialog"
Alternatively, you can also click on the start menu, type run in the search bar, and you will have the RUN Program.
Once you have the RUN box, type in ncpa.cpl and click OK - This would work for all Windows operating systems including Windows Xp, Vista and 7.
2) Next, Choose the correct network adapter (from the icons)
If you are connecting to the internet using an Ethernet cable, then most likely you are using a desktop computer. Right-Click "Local Area Connection" and click "Properties"
If you are connecting to the internet using a Wi-Fi Connection, then Right-Click on "Wireless Network Connection" and click properties
3) After you open the properties window, select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties"
4) Usually you would be having both the options set to "Automatic"
In the section below, select the "Use the following DNS Server Addresses" and enter the following values Preferred DNS Server - 8.8.4.4
Alternate DNS Server - 8.8.8.8
and click "OK", then click "CLOSE"
You must now test your new configuration by browsing a website - you can also try and browse the website you were trying to get to when you got the error 105.

I got a NETGEAR router and I have been trying to get my Motorola SURFboard to recognize it. I had the USB connection installed and the NETGEAR uses ethernet, so I tried to install the ethernet but my...

The Cable modem must be disconnected from the computer. You cannot use USB and Ethernet at the same time.

1. Turn off power to the Cable Modem and the Netgear Router. Do the same with the computer.
2. Connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the router's WAN (Internet) port.
3. Connect another ethernet cable from one of the remaining 4 LAN ports on the router to the computer's ethernet port.

4. Now power on the Cable Modem ONLY. Wait for the modem to sync up with your service provider
5. After about 2-5 minutes power up the router and wait about 1-2 minutes.
6. Now power on your PC.

Check and see if you have internet access. If not you may have to uninstall any cable modem software related to USB connection. if this is the case, then you may have to repeat steps 4-6.

Since most cable internet providers do not use proprietary connection settings, your internet connection should be up and running without changing any settings in the router or modem.

If this does not resolve your issues, we can continue to work with you.

I don't know how to reinstall the linksys access point!!! Our wireless network that we made simply disappeared, so I'm trying to re-make one. However, when I tried that with a flash drive, it couldn't work...

T
o access the Access Points Setup, and the LAN IP address has not changed, then computer must have an IP address of 192.168.1.XXX. If the Access Point is plugged in via Ethernet to a Linksys Router and the computer is also connected a Linksys router via Ethernet, then the PC should already have a correct IP address (unless the LAN IP Address of the Router has been changed). If unsure, please assign the computer a Static IP Address so it will have an IP address in the same range as the Access Points IP Address.

If the Access Point is being connected to a hub/switch/router via Ethernet, then use the cable that was provided with Access Point. If the Access Point is being connected to the computer directly, then a Cross Over cable must be used. Cross over cables can be purchased at most electronic stores.
Remember: When ever a change is made in the Setup of the Access Point, the Apply button must be used to save the settings to the Access Point.
  1. Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape)
  2. When the browser opens, go to the "Address" bar and input the IP address of the Access Point.
      Default IP addresses:
    • WAP11 v2.8 - 192.168.1.251
    • WAP54G v1.1 - 192.168.1.245
  3. A "User Name" and "Password" prompt will appear, leave the "User Name" field blank and input the Access Points password (The default password of a Linksys Access Point is admin) into the "Password" field.

The SMTP server returned an error. Account: 'pop.012.net.il', Server: 'smp.012.net.il', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '-ERR Permission Denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC60

Most SMTP-servers will give "permission" to be used only when your computer is connected via an IP-address assigned to you (statically or dynamically) by the Internet Service Provider.

So, if you are using wireless Internet access, maybe provided at some retail location, rather than connected by Ethernet cable to '012.NET.IL', or wirelessly within your own home, using your own wireless router, you will get this error-message, when you try to "send" E-mail.

Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.
