See if the sound is present at the headphone jack by plugging in headphones. This is the start of testing.

How do I fix a Roland Digital Piano FP-8 that has refused to play sounds despite the fact that it displays lights?

If everything lights up and responds to button pushes like normal, and you've done a hard reset as described in the manual, check to see if you have sound out of the headphone jack. It's most likely not a user serviceable problem and will need to go to the shop, but it will probably be the output amp rather than the main board.

I just opened my new piano and middle C pushes harder than all the other keys and plays softer

Take it back to the store (send it back to the store but call first to get a return authorization if you got it online). This sounds like a manufactures defect. It shouldn't work that way.

You can also try calling Yamaha (good customer service historically). Check your packaging for their number. They usually prefer that you call them to get things fixed instead of returning it.

I would not recommend trying any quick fixes anyone else recommends because they can invalidate your warranty from Yamaha

Good luck.

The keys in the middle range of my Yamaha electronic piano P-200 seem to be stuck and are very difficult to play - takes a lot of strength to get any sound. Could humidity be a problem? Could piano...

Although the keys have a weighted feel, this is not because of a system involving connection t hammers as in an acoustic piano. This is done mechanically, however, which would indicate a need for cleaning. If you have an authorized Yamaha service center in you area they would need to do the cleaning.

Yamaha P-200 electric piano does not have any

Plug in your ear phones to see if you can hear the sound that way. If not you are experiencing some internal failure in your integrated amp output.

In that case you will need to get authorised service.

Yamaha P-200 elec piano - when I press the keys, they kind of make clicking sounds like they need to be oiled...what should i do?

I have a Yamaha P200.

One thing I noticed is that it is the hardest electronic keyboard I have ever played. The action is pretty close to a real piano but it is the hardest action I have experienced.

Could you just be a bit out of practice or not recalling accurately what is was like to play it?

Or of course it could be gummed up with crud if it wasn't covered or in it's case while you weren't using it.

There is definitely a sound when the key come up after being played - you could call it a thump or a click I guess. Again it could be a crud issue as well.

Having it cleaned could be helpful.
