If you used it for only 3-4 hours before the problem occurred then you should have a replacement warranty on the product.
I think you have already done the factory reset procedure shown on page 175 of the user manual.
Is it possible to take it to the place you purchased it from. Alternatively check the Denon website and find out who the closest agent is in your locality. Send it back with proof of purchase using a courier service that you can track for receipt. Hope it turns out well. http://assets.denon.com/DocumentMaster/us/Owners%20Manual%20-%20English_AVR-X1000.pdf
Yes that is why. The receiver is protecting itself from an un-stable load impedance which causes current/voltage spikes through the final amplifier components and proportionally through the input where the protection relay is (click),. Do not continue using the amp until you have repaired or replaced the blown speakers. A rule of thumb is to maintain 8 ohms on each speaker wire plugged into the amp. Keep that in mind or eventually you will damage it.
The cause of it not coming out of protect mode will be mostly a faulty part on the main amp section. Most likely one or more of the devices attached to the heat sink.
replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. i had the
exact same problem with mine and once i replaced the capacitors it
powered up and stayed on and worked perfect. these capacitors tend to fail as they're of poor quality. this fault is very common on denon receivers, especially the later models.
Do you still have the AVR1500? I have one with a bad tuner--and would be interested in purchasing your for parts. Let me know if you still have it and if you'd be willing to sell it.
sterio wireing touching each other putting it in protect mode retrace all your wireing and redo this should clear up the protect mode if not return denon as manufacture malfunction to get replacement
