Question about Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Computer

1 Answer

I have not tried to fix the computer as this is far beyond my abilities. I called a repairman and he said to unplug the unit from the wall and then plug it back in. Did that but nothing happened.

Did you press the power on button? Does anything light up? Can you hear or feel the fan running?

  • matootsie Sep 13, 2010

I pressed the power on button. Got the blue box with "No Signal Digital" for a few seconds, but only got the power light. The fan is running. Thanks.

Is the computer completely dead no lights nothing?
If it is
1 check the power lead is plugged into the back.
2 Check the power lead fuse.
3 Check the power lead in another device to establish if it's working.
4 Check your wall socket with another device.
Can you here a humming sound when you switch on i.e. the PSU starting up.
If power is being supplied to the unit and you cannot here the PSU starting up it has to be the PSU in the computer and it will need replacing.

Can you hear the HDD running if you can and the monitor cable is working you should see the makers splash screen.
Check or replace the monitor cable and try again.

  • grandadfixit Sep 13, 2010

My last comment is not the answer because any image that appears on the screen indicates the monitor cable is working.
My next thought is do you have a separate video card in the PC if you have and the monitor cable is connected from it the card could be at fault or the driver missing or corrupt.
Look at the back of the PC to see where the monitor cable is connected if its connected to a separate video card try connecting the cable from the built in monitor output i.e. the one built into the motherboard which will be higher up than any video card that’s been installed into the PC.
What baffles me at the moment is even if the HDD has failed you should get the manufactures boot up screen and something like operating system not found.
Seeing a screen that says no signal indicates that the monitor output is at fault.
Have a look and let me know how you get on.

Check to see that BOTH the monitor and the CPU box that the monitor is connected to are on.

Philips dvdr3390/37 won't power on

Hello,

Your unit being stuck in standby mode is an indication that its having a power problem. Remove its plug from the wall and fix it back into the wall, then turn it on again. If its still stuck in safe mode, then the power supply board in the unit is the cause of the problem.

The power supply board might be defective and maybe that's why the unit won't power up. Its receiving power but it cannot transfer the current to the necessary part of the unit because a capacitor, diode, etc may have been faulty. Until these bad components are replaced, the unit might not come on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

We are not able ti play All the time it desplay LOADING but it doesn't open

Sometimes a dirty optical lens is the cause of the problem.. You can try cleaning the optical lens by using a commercially available CD OPTICAL LENS CLEANER. If the unit is under warranty just return the unit from the store or in the authorized service center. If not, follow this simple steps try if this solution may fix the problem before you call a local repairman.. (1) unplug the unit from the wall socket. (2) unscrew to remove the protected cover. (3) A drop of water on the cotton buds. Do not use benzene, thinner or other volatile chemicals. Also do not use record spray or antistatic agent. wipe off the dirt on the optical lens. Once finished, just return the cover from it original position. And then plug the unit and try if the problem is solve.... Tyhomearceo_3.jpghomearceo_2.jpg

Hello,

First, remove the power cord from the wall, wait for about 20mins, plug it back in, then try again. If that doesn't work, then it means there is a fault.

Can't figure out how to reload stapler

I called a repairman to come and fix it. I am not a stupid person and can generally follow instruction and figure something out, but this is the second time this has happened with this machine & this staple cartridge, and why this is so difficult is beyond me. We have a mainternance agreement so I just called to have him come and fix it....again.

T.V. PLAYING AND GET SHUT OFF

  • your power source leads on the unit are out.
  • Because I don't know the value of your unit I cannot comment on replacing the unit.
  • You can try unplugging the tv from the wall for 30 minutes and then plugging it back in.
  • I would recommend that you use our website to find a Flat Panel TV Repairman near you.
  • You may want to call to get an estimate on replacing the power supply before considering replacing the unit.
