Chain saw starts fine, idles fine, and powers up fine when not cutting a long how when starting to cut a log it bogs down and dies. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or what’s wrong with the chain saw?

Two things that can cause this problem. 1. Your carburetor is not set properly and is not letting the engine get enough fuel under a load. 2. Your chain is binding when you put the chain bar down on the log. Make sure your front chain sproket is turning free and is not too sloppy.

Does cut off saw need carb adj. it bogs down while cutting

It sounds like you are cutting something heavier than your saw can handle. I would check the manual and the limitations of your saw. If it is getting bogged down when sawing very small, thin things then the chain might need to be replaced. Don't keep using it until you have replaced the chain if that is the case.

Generally this is a fuel / air ratio problem. Usually it can be solved by a carb adjustment. On the carb there are usually two screws, one marked low or L , the other marked high or H. Low is your adjustment for idle mixture, high is for mixture at full throttle. The saw should Always be adjusted to run well during the cut. Make adjustments a little at a time, then try The saw. Continue small adjustments untill the saw is performing well at full throttle while Cutting.

While cutting the chainsaw bogs down and stops

Check the air filter and the muffler if either are plugged up it will not run smooth. Carb hi and low screws are very sensitive so if you change them, only move them a little at a time.

When u start saw and start cutting saw dies down act like its flooding out

I think you are saying it starts and runs fine but bogs down when making a cut. If true turn the mixture screw marked "H" CCW ¼ turn and try it in a cut. Better? If not turn it CW 3/8 turn and try again. Careful CW is leaner; to lean will ruin your piston and cylinder. HTH

The carb low idle needs to be adjusted this is fairly common among the Poulan chain saws. Once you adjust the low idle from factory setting it will work

There are two idle screws one high, and one low. Your high adjustment idle screw needs to be adjusted.

hi leobowdy

disassembly the carb and carefully clean it.Check the air filter, the fuel line and fuel filter, check the needle, lever, small spring and the screen filter from the carb.Check the sparkplug.
high speed H=2 turns,low speed L=2 1/2 turns,adjust T
When chain saw starts adjust H,L and T accordingly.
