SOURCE: DE gets into the pool when recharging the

you will get a bit of flow back when first turn on pump after service.

If you are not - use pool filter socks in your skimmer box (pool - not - pump skimmer). This will help lengthen the service times on your DE filter. Very helpful when 'Vacing' the pool :)

SOURCE: EC 40 DE In Pool

That's common, it happens for about 30 seconds when you first turn the filter on. If it is happening more than that then their may be a small tear in the nylon of your fingers or a bolt and nut loose on the tubesheets.

SOURCE: I have a Hayward de 3600, DE powder is getting

You will need to take the filter apart and check the grids, the manifold and the internal air bleed. If you have'nt done this in more than a year that can cause your grids to go bad. Or if your pool has gone green and you ran it before killing all the alge this will hurt your grids also. After you get it apart check the grids for holes or tears and see if the frames inside the grids are broken in any way. Check the air bleed the same way, and see if their are any cracks in the manifold. If any of these things are a problem they will need to be replaced. If alge is a problem you need to kill it before you can clean it out of the pool. Do this by super chlorination. And be sure to break down your filter and hand clean it at least once a year. Hope this helps.

The best I could find was the manual for the DE4820. Other than the slight body differences, the 2 are not much different. Most of the parts are identical.

Hi i have a hayward SP0410X502S is the valve supose to be up or down for backwashing?

Since this is a sand filter then when the valve is in the down position it is backwashing and when in the up position it is in the filter position. If you had a DE filter it would be the other way around because the filters are made with the upper and lower popes on the side of the filters doing the opposite function.

I hope this helps.

My Hayward superpump has a crack in the pump filter basket housing. I cannot afford to replace my pump at this time. Is there a patch or epoxy that will seal the crack? Hopeful!!

I would recommend a product called "Pool Putty". We use it all the time for quick repairs at my pool company. It is a 2-part epoxy that hardens like concrete. It might get you through the rest of the season.

If D.E. is returning to the pool, it's usually because you have a tear in the grids or the backwash valve is not working properly and returning D.E. back to the pool.

Hayward Perflex EC-75. The DE is gumming up after about 1 week all up in the fingers. Keep taking the filter apart and washing it down then replace the DE but only getting one week out of the new...

I maintain three commercial pools ... one a hot tub. We replaced the DE with sand filters this spring. The last year of DE - even with insisting the patrons shower first, we only got one week out of the DE ... and we were dumping the water also. Suntan oil, body oils ... it was a mess. The water was sparlking for 6 of the 7 days ... The only way to keep it that way was dump the water and change the DE.

Maybe your filter is not big enough. Had you given the gallons or the size of your pool, I would have calculated the filter area for you. If you can post it and if FixYa, notifies me, I would be glad to do the calculation.

The bottom portion of my 48Ft DE filter has a crack. Can it be fixed or replaced?

You should be able to get a replacement tank bottom from a pool supply store or even online. I would not suggest trying to fix it since it can run at a fairly high pressure if it gets dirty. You can probably seal the leak but the crack is not structurally sound and poses a danger to anyone around it when at operating pressure.

My DE pool filter stops working after an hour? please help

Is your pool green? This will cause the filter to plug up. When you say stops working do you mean no water flo, passing dirt or are we talking about the pump not moving water? Can you clarify this problem some?spellcheck.gif
