Question about Maytag LAT3600A Top Load Washer
Thanks for using FixYa. If the cycle doesn't complete/advance, then the first thing that should be checked is the Timer. Timers don't often fail, but if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Timers can't be repaired, if yours is defective, replace it. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Open the control panel. Unplug the timer and then plug it back in good and firm.
If it does not work correctly after that,
Replace your timer.

OK, what you are experiencing is a timer mechanism fault. the timer motor is malfunctioning. anytime you have to manually advance the timer knob, this will signal a fault within the control mech. this is easily fixed by, replacing the timer control module. i will place a link to the actual part needed to fix this issue. you can also purchase this timer on line at this site if you wish.

SOURCE: cycle will not advance
ok turn off unit at power switch, turn knob to drain and spin, and turn back on that will reset its programming and force it to do the drain and spin cycle also check the drainage hose to ensure it's not kinked or clogged. If it's clear and in good shape

DOES IT DO THIS ON EVERY WASH OR SOMETIMES? IF SOMETIMES, CHECK LID SWITCH( THERE'S A LITTLE HOLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID, ON THE LID SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES IN THAT HOLE. THE SWITCH IS UNDER, INSIDE THAT HOLE. YOU CAN GET A PEN OR KEY TO SEE IF IT'S BROKEN.)
