SOURCE: Restore to factory default

Perform a system recovery:
Acer computer's do not ship with recovery CD's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or recover.
3 ways to recover:

1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
2. Or click on Burn disks instead of Restore
3. If unable to boot into Windows then tap Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen when starting up the computer.
4. This will start the Acer E-recovery program - choose Factory Default Settings and follow instructions.

SOURCE: restore factory settings

You need to do a new windows setup, erasing completely existing system. I do not know if you can do this from Vista upgrade. You may need to install from a bootable Windows setup disk first, and then install vista upgrade. Once you install the system you may need to download drivers. Here is Toshiba drivers page.

How to you do a factory restore for windows vista

Computer users restore their operating systems for several reasons, such as the presence of corrupted files and to return the registry to its original state. This removes third-party software that consumes valuable memory space and also rids the PC of malware and spyware. Windows Vista, although not the most popular Windows operating system, offered users the Vista Business Edition and the Vista Enterprise Edition, both designed for use by businesses or individuals.

Click the Vista Start button to open the Start menu and click "Control Panel." Click "System and Maintenance" followed by "Back Up and Restore Center." Click "Back Up Files" followed by "Continue." If prompted for an administrative password, enter the password and click "Continue." This opens the Where Do You Want To Save Your Back Up? page. Check the radio button to indicate where to save your back up data. Options include "On a Hard Disk, CD or DVD" and "On a Network." Click "Next." This opens the Which Files Do You Want To Back Up? page. If you chose hard disk, you must save the backup to an external drive, such as USB hard drive or flash drive. Check the radio buttons corresponding with the types of file you want to save and click "Next." Click "Save settings and start backup." Continue when the Backup Complete message displays. b> Restore b> Remove all peripherals from your computer, such as scanners, faxes and printers. Do not remove the keyboard, monitor or mouse. Power down your PC. After shutdown, power it up. Hold the "F8" key during startup before the Windows logo appears on the screen until the Advanced Boot Options menu displays. Select "Repair your Computer" using the down arrow on your keyboard and press "Enter." Choose your language setting and click "Next." Log in as the user that holds administrative credentials and click "OK." Your computer manufacturer will offer you the option of restoring to factory settings. For instance, if restoring Vista on a Dell, you must select "Dell Factory Image Restore" and click "Next." On other computers, click "Next" after choosing to restore to factory settings. Select "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition" if using a Dell.

If using another computer, select a comparable choice, such as "Reformat the hard drive and operating system to factory condition." Click "Next." Click "Finish" when the restoration is complete.

Hello there,

If you want to recover Windows Vista factory settings, go to "Control Panel", then "Backup and Restore Center." There you can choose to restore your operating system using system restore or to restore your system from a previously saved restore point.

Let me know if this helped

Want to restore my dell latitude C600/C500 MODEL NO.PPO1L TO FACTORY SETTINGS

Is this windows XP or Vista or Windows 7? For windows XP restoring the Factory Setting is once you power on your computer Immediately Press and hold the CTRL button + Tapping on the F11 button at the same time, If successful it will show you the factory restore. Make sure that you did not reinstall your operating system before or it will not show that option anymore. For windows Vista and Windows 7 Once you power on the computer Immediately Tap on the F8 button for couple of times until it will show you an option Like Repair your Computer > If successful highlight the REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER > HIT ENTER > WINDOWS WILL LOAD SOME FILES > IT WILL SHOW YOU KEYBOARD LAY OUT > SELECT LANGUAGE (ENGLISH) NEXT> USE YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD NEXT> IT WILL SHOW YOU BUNCH OF OPTION > SINCE THIS IS DELL LOOK FOR THE DELL DATA SAFE EMERGENCY BACK UP THAT WILL BE THE LAST OPTION> Now if you don't have that and your last option is Command prompt it means that restoring factory image will not push through... Reinstall the Operating system using use Operating system disk and prepare your Driver Disk as well. HOPE this will help you . God Bless. :)
