Question about Samsung HLR5067WX 50" Rear Projection HDTV

2 Answers

When I try to turn on my TV, I hear a click the lamp turns on and the LAMP button begins blinking green. the screen appears to be very very dimly lit, no picture or sound, and it also appears to be flickering. After about a minute or two all operations seem to stop and the STANDBY/TEMP light comes on the power button. Before this problem of not even comming on the unit would appear to turn itself off for 3-5 minutes them come back on.

If balast is bad would the lamp still come on at all? if that wire has 300vdc is
    it good or bad?

  • shane theriot Sep 13, 2010

I saw or heard no spark on or around the lamp or balast board. Also, no real noise other than the original "click" after pressing the power button.

  • shane theriot Sep 13, 2010

Unit is about 4 years old and never have replaced lamp. As I said, the lamp comes on for a minute as the "lamp" butting is blinking green on the power switch. The lamp and fans turn off and the "standby/temp" flashes on the power button. For those 1-2 minutes no picture or sound appears. Is there anyway to bypass the temp sensor temporarly for testing purposes?

  • shane theriot Sep 13, 2010

Sorry mybe I confused you. The standby/temp lite dosnt blink it just lites up after the lamp and fans turn off. I did unplug the temp sensor and still did same thing. So, after putting all back together it did come on for a little while the menu screen was clear but the cable picture was all green and white stripped and had good volume. But I went off and is back to original problem.

  • shane theriot Sep 13, 2010

Ok thanks. Will try that first. Thanks you are very helpful and I appriciate that.

  • shane theriot Sep 13, 2010

What do you think about the green screen the one time it did come on ?

  • shane theriot Dec 06, 2010

Finally got new lamp installed. Tv works great while veiwing DVD on componet input. However, when I try to watch cable channels through Cable Input the screen is a greenish color with vertical line running down it spaced about 18inches apart. sound good and cable picture is faint.

  • shane theriot Dec 06, 2010

Replaced the lamp and Tv works great on DVD inputs. However, when using Cable input the picture is faint, greenish color and has vertical line running down the screen about every 18inches.

Hi,
If Standby/Temp is only light that blinks after tv shuts off then it is problem of Temp Sensor that is sending wrong signal to system control about high temp in tv.
There is nothing wrong in tv except temp sensor, it would be mounted on lamp housing, replace it to get tv back in business.
How old is your tv? Did you replaced lamp in tv in last 2-3 years?
Let me know to provide you more technical info about problem.
Thanks.

Temp sensor is not costly part and available with Discount-Merchant.com for $20
Click above link to view image of part and you can get enlarge images by clicking thumb nail image on page.
Disconnect temp sensor jack from its circuit board and turn On tv, if it still does not power up, put simple wire on both tiny holes of connector to connect it directly and turn On tv to test temp sensor.
    Thanks.

Yes, blinking light shows error in this tv and solid light of Standby/Temp means tv refuse to turn On and possible cause is Lamp that has not been replaced yet.
I thought standby/temp light is blinking but it is not so it seems tv does not turn On due to weak lamp.
I'm not saying lamp is dead or broke but weak that means its reached to end of its working life span and confusing tv system.
Replace lamp in tv, hopefully it will solve the issue.
    Thanks.

    OK, no problem.
Let me know if you have additional question.
    Thanks.

Greenish screen could be due to less amount of back light that lamp provides in dlp tv.
You know weak lamp can not produce high bright white light thus light engine's generated image can not be projected on front screen correctly.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described the issue seems to be with the ballast that has gone bad and should be replaced. However, before replacing that check if you hear crackling or see a spark from the ballast as you have the back off then it means ballast(which is the power supply source of the lamp) is good, if not then you’ll have to replace the ballast. You can also test the wire that runs from the ballast to the power supply and check if it reads around 300vdc...if it does then you need Ballast. If it’s good then it’s the DMD Board that should be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

If the ballast is bad the lamp wont come on at all. Also if that reads 300vdc then it is the ballast however, from what you have described the issue seems to be with the Digital board going bad and should be replaced.

Samsung HL-R4266W 42 in won't turn on

Hi,

Initially, have you tried a full hard reset? If not, pls unplug from the mains. Most current devices would reset and revert back to factory default settings (assuming no internal hardware fault) when unplugged for a considerable period of time (from a few minutes to a couple of hours).

Additionally, have you tried powering the unit using another outlet?

Pls post back for any development(s) or even the lack of it.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

TV WONT COME ON AND THE LIGHT KEEPS FLASHIN RED AN GREEN ON THE STANDBY BUTTON

  1. If your Sony Wega will not turn on, the front green light blinks, you hear a faint whirring sound and the green light turns red and flashes, it probably means the lamp inside the set is no longer working. If you noticed the screen beginning to dim in the preceding days or weeks, this most likely is the cause.

  2. If the green light flashes and the picture comes on momentarily but then goes off, and the green button flashes until the set restarts, then the seal around the lamp mount is loose and needs to be refitted.

  3. If the picture on your Grand Wega cuts in and out and the green standby light flashes, both of the set's STKs need to be replaced. STKs are small chips on your television's circuit boards and are identifiable by their labels. The specific STKs used in your Grand Wega TV will be identifiable by the numbered labels on top of the STKs.

  4. When you plug in your Sony Wega and hear a loud popping sound, it's probably caused by a defect in the high-voltage circuit. Let the professionals take care of this one.

  5. If, after turning on your Sony Wega, you can hear your set but the screen is black, you most likely need to replace your projection lamp.

When the TV has been powered on long enough for the lamp unit to get hot, it may take several minutes for the picture to appear on-screen
in the following situations:
• When the Quick Restart™ feature is set to OFF and you turn the TV off and then on again within a few minutes.
• If the TV is on when a short-term power failure, power surge, or other similar power failure occurs, such that the TV loses and regains
power within a few minutes.
This is a property of DLP TV lamp technology and is NOT a sign of malfunction.
If this occurs, the green LED on the TV front panel will blink (and the red LED will be lit solid) until the TV is finished restarting the lamp
and the normal picture appears. If BOTH green and red LEDs are blinking at a one-second rate, you will need to turn the TV off and then
on again to restart the lamp.

Won't turn on. Green power light blinks for 30 seconds and then red lamp light blinks constantly

If the lamp light is lit, it is likely a bad lamp. If you remove the lamp from the set, you will either see shards of glass in the housing and/or a very cloudy reflector (it should look like a mirror). Be sure to use an original Sony lamp as the replacements are trouble makers. Please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Power LED blinks red

it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea
