Question about Lowrance iFinder GPS Receiver

.GPX files on handheld Lowrance?

I am a Park Ranger and I plan to post a .GPX file on the Park Service public website, which will allow visitors to download the tracks and waypoints for out park's thirty miles of paddle trails. Can a Lowrance (handheld GPS) owner download and use a .GPX file obtained in this way? I know products from other manufacturers can.

Garmin dakota 10 does not free up memory

Connect your dakota 10 to your computer ,double click on my computer or computer on deskstop and you will see garmin storage. And then double on garmin F .double click on garmin folder and if you want to delete gpx files click on gpx ,you can see current, archive and track log you've saved. Then you can delete tracklog you've saved .But some tracklog were automatically saved in archive folder ,double click folder and you can delete gpx file.In the same way if you double click on current folder you can see current gpx file and you can delete it.Like that you can delete image file in the same way.One important is you must not delete system files or folder.

My GPS has a warning sign that comes on when I turn it on saying 1000 GPX files loaded. Please consolidate additional files, I can't download any new caches I get can you tell me anything to fix it.

It sounds like the maximum number of GPX file types your GPS can manage is 1,000. You'll need to delete as many existing GPX files as there are new that you want to add, ie: If you want to add 150 new waypoints (a.k.a. Geocaches a.k.a. GPX files) you'll should delete 151 (or more) GPX files from the GPS. That way, you'll have 999 GPX files loaded - and won't see the message complaining of 1,000 GPX files.
Running with a minimal number of GPX files may allow your device to run faster - as it doesn't need to load and calculate distances for 1,000 GPX file points. Less can be more - if you don't do CITO, Webcam, Multis, etc. or any type that has a difficulty / terrain ratings greater than 2 or 3, don't even download them. It's just clutter for your GPS to track and manage.
Look at the filters to select the types you want - either on Geocaching.com or the software (GSAK?) you use assemble and prepare for loading them into your GPS.

Geocache list doesn't show on gps

Basecamp is displaying the contents of the gpx file. This means you've correctly imported the gpx file into Basecamp.

A copy of the gpx file needs to be separately saved into the "GARMIN/GPX" folder on your GPS via USB and your computer. (Note: I believe your Oregon has the same file structure as my Garmin Montana).

On startup, your GPS will read the new data and display the caches.

How do you get geocaches on a lowrance endura gps. plez help

Loading Geocaching information on the Endura Safari GPS
You can load individual caches into the Safari as a .loc file or load a pocket query file of up to 500 caches as a .gpx file.

The trick with the Safari is to load these onto the unit using the data cable that comes in the box. Connect the Safari to your computer using the data cable and transfer your .loc or .gpx files into the GPX folder on the device.

These files have to be in this GPX folder to be recognized by the device. It will not work if you load the .loc or .gpx files onto a microSD card and insert it into the bottom of the Safari. I am told that this will be fixed in the 1.2 software update that is supposed to come out at the beginning of December.

Once you have the files loaded, all you have to do is disconnect from the computer and wait for the Endura to restart, go to Main Menu --> Find --> Geocaches and see all of the caches listed. For .loc files, there will be limited information provided from Geocaching.com. For .gpx pocket query files, you will have access to the full description, cache size, terrain difficulty, find log and hints. The great thing about the Endura GPS products is that they have a great filter function for geocaches. I use this with my 7 yr old daughter when I only want to find caches that are easier to find and have full size traditional caches that are more likely to have better "treasure" inside. Hope this helps. Have fun!

HOW COULD I TRANSFER MY FAVORITES FOLDER FROM MY GERMIN 765T TO MY NEW ONE SAME MODEL ?

Connect your Garmin to PC with USB cord. Open Garmin/GPX folder and copy the current.gpx file to pc and rename it to temp.gpx. Then copy the temp.gpx back to the new Garmin/GPX folder. Unplug Garmin. Turn off/on and your favorites should be back.

What is a GPX?

Hi,

What is GPX? GPX (the GPS eXchange Format) is a data format for exchanging GPS data between programs, and for sharing GPS data with other users. Unlike other data files, which can only be understood by the programs that created them, GPX files actually contain a description of what's inside them, allowing anyone to create a program that can read the data within.
How can GPX help me? GPX lets you exchange data with other GPS users, who might not be using the same software as you. Imagine the following scenario:
You're leaving for vacation tomorrow, and you wonder if anyone has some waypoint data for the tropical paridise you'll be visiting. You do a quick search on the web, and find a data file created by a GPS user who just returned from vacation!
You've found some GPS data you can use on your vacation! Perfect! Or is it?
Without GPX You download the file, Vacation.txt from the vacation webpage, and try to open it with your GPS software. It crashes. Even though your GPS software reads and writes text files, this one is a bit different. You try making some changes by hand, but it's taking too long, and you're afraid you'll make mistakes. You do a quick web search to find a solution, but no converter exists. You end up printing out the text file and entering some of the waypoints into your GPS by hand. On the second day of your vacation, you realize that all the waypoints are off by a quarter mile. It turns out the website owner had his GPS set to a different datum, and you forgot to change your GPS before entering the data by hand.
With GPX You download the file, Vacation.gpx from the vacation webpage, and open it with your GPS software. You're surprised that it opens and transfers successfully to your GPS, since the file was created by a Lowrance GPS user on a Macintosh computer using a program you've never heard of. But since your GPS software supports GPX as well, you now have a complete, accurate set of waypoints for your vacation.
Feeling lucky, you wonder if there's a way to get the waypoints into your new street mapping software, so you can plan a route from the hotel. Your street mapping software doesn't support GPX, but maybe there's a converter available? A quick search on the web turns up another webpage! You wonder how much it's going to cost to buy a program just to do the conversion, but it turns out you don't even have to install new software - the webpage uses a FREE online form to convert your GPX file. You click the Submit button on the form, and your web browser launches your street mapping software with the converted data.
The next day, lying on the beach, you think about how easy it is for GPS programs to exchange data using GPX. While sipping a cool drink, you remember that anyone can write their own GPX converter to transform GPS data into a spreadsheet, a personal webpage, or a data file for their favorite program. And you think to yourself, "GPX really is a better way to exchange GPS data."
What are the benefits of GPX? Here are some of the benefits that GPX provides:
  • GPX allows you to exchange data with a growing list of programs for Windows, MacOS, Linux, Palm, and PocketPC.
  • GPX can be transformed into other file formats using a simple webpage or converter program.
  • GPX is based on the XML standard, so many of the new programs you use (Microsoft Excel, for example) can read GPX files.
  • GPX makes it easy for anyone on the web to develop new features which will instantly work with your favorite programs.

Hope i helped you.

The GPX drive is not showing

initailly there was a dev. sys config file or something of that nature on the GPX website like a year ago that would allow you to replace and/or access your music and/or the GPX mp3 player, however 2-3 years later they have fixed bugs and put out many other mp3 players so your luck of finding this file is dwindling. try it w/ and w/out batteries and try to go to win explorer as oppsed to "my computer"

I have an GPX MW1388 MP3 audio player I cant get it to take music

This player will only recognize certain file types, and certain WMA files have restrictions that will allow you to play the song on your computer, but will not allow you to transfer it to an mp3 player. Your best bet is to get a music service that will only give you songs in mp3 format - it will give you fewer headaches. Once you have downloaded the songs onto your computer, you can use Windows Media Player to transfer the songs to your GPX. The full user's manual is available from GPX's website. Good luck!

Unable to send and open data sent to my Garmin GPS from Anquet map. I planned a route on my Anquet map software with wayponits etc but was uable to send it to my gps. I have enquired with Anquet and they...

Currently, the POI Loader only supports CSV files because that is the format that most data vendors support. POI Loader may support additional formats in the future.

MapSource only supports .mps, .gdb and .gpx files. You can save files as .txt files if you wish to use this data in other applications.

Sadly Garmin does not produce any software which can convert .txt files.

However, this maybe possible with GPS Utility. Please note GPS Utility is not Garmin software and Garmin does not support this. Click on the following link for more information:
