Unable to get into safe mode

hi there !

-try t drain everything out of the computer first; remove the power adapter then remove the battery; after 1 minute try again; if problem persists run diagnostics
--while the computer is off, press and hld the "Fn" key then press the power button at the same time to start the test; note down error message then consult manufacturer for the code obtained. if no errors found it is a windows problem; you need to reinstall windows on the computer

cheers!

Shut down of laptop after blue screen appears

When you hit F12 or whatever F key to go to the boot drive menu, make sure the cd is in and that you select CD/DVD Drive and the dvd should prompt you to hit any key or will automatically start loading for the recovery. Just tell me if you need further assistance.

Blue screen and windows shut down

For the issue of BSOD of Unmountable Boot volume, the only solution so far is to reinstall the system. If you are unaware of how to do it, it would be easier to contact Dell technical support and allow them to guide you thru it. (if your warranty is active, it's free)

Dell Inspiron Unmountable Boot Volume,

Hello! Have you made any changes to your PC recently? Hardware change or software install/uninstall? If not, this could mean you HDD is dying or there is a problem with a drvier. You may be able to do a repair install if the hard drive is not damaged because according to what I've found it is UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_SEQUENCE STOP:0x0000000ED. It means the there is somthing either not right with the boot sector or the file system. It's likely that when you boot you computer, if you press f10 on some OEM computers at POST (Power On Self Test) you can access a screen that allows you to repair your computer when you follow on screen directions. Be careful! If you have data you want to keep on your main C: drive, all will be restored to factory condition if you choose the wrong option! Be sure to choose repair! This option overwrites certain OS files. If you have Windows XP disk you can boot off that an do a recovery console /r when the CD boots.

what has happened is your hard drive as failed and that is why it shut down and then gave the unmountable boot volume. You could try repairing windows using your XP cd but it's a new hard drive i recon.
