Question about Denon AVR-2807 Receiver

1 Answer

I have owned a Denon AVR-2807 receiver for nearly 4 years. About three months ago, we noticed a significant change. If you are watching an HD channel the audio is underpowered by a significant amount. When you switch to a non-HD channel the audio is booming. The audio is at least twice as high if not more on the analog channel compared to the HD channel. When we switch from the non-HD channel to HD the readout on the face of the receiver flashes Dial norm offset ? 7 DB and sometimes Dial Norm offset ? 4DB. Somehow we must have changed a receiver setting because this happens to every HD and non-HD channel. For 3 ½ years the audio was fine; now there is something wrong. If you simply increase the audio volume by using the dial on the receiver and then change back to a non-HD channel, the sound blows you away and is distorted. I am looking for a solution to bring back normal audio levels to all HD and non-HD channels. Please tell me how I can physically do this using the panel on the receiver. I am not using the remote. Please tell me step-by-step instructions on how to fix this issue. There has to be a setting that needs to be tweaked. Another thought: If we returned the receiver to normal factory or default settings, wouldn?t the issue go away? How does one do that? Once again, step-by-step instructions would be helpful if this is a possible solution. I would prefer finding the real issue before going to factory settings.

This problem is due to variable resistor damage, this is regula due to long time service. if u access the varable resistor try to change it if you know how, if you dont want to change, put a little bet amount of oil to easily clean the contacs or try to depress the volume contol to return it to push contact position. varible resistor is your volume control

Can't get the sound to work on my TV using the Denon AVR-2807

In the 2807 the HDMI out is a video out only. Audio is not processed through the HDMI output.
If you are using speakers it is best to adjust the playback modes to stereo if you are annoyed with surround sound modes.
Please comment if I helped.

Loss of sound on the Denon AVR 2807 a/v surround receiver when I turn on and off lights in my house

Finally the problem was with the HDMI cable. When I pushed it in on the TV set the problem disappeared. It seems the connections must be quite firm on the HDMI cables otherwise anything may interfere to the sound.

AVR 2807 shuts off at high volumes

You may have leaky Caps in the power supply or else dry joints on the amplifier section. Faulty speakers or overdriving of the system may result in the amp going into protection. Good Luck, Jus004
