You *DO* have a "boot-disk".

Put the original Microsoft Vista Home Premium DVD-ROM into your drive, and tell the computer to boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Samsung RV515 how do you reboot a laptop?

Oh dear sounds like hard drive failure. When the computer cannot find instructions to load am operating system it asks for them. I think your computer hard disk is given up the ghost which I'd where it would normally load the boot information. The boot information is the operating system like Windows. There are ways to check the hard disk I do hope you had back ups though.

I dont have boot dissk for my asus f5r laptop what can i do it says reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key_

Your ASUS cannot find the hard drive to boot up.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

It keeps sayying reboot select proper boot device insert media selected boot device and press a key and I dont know how to fix it, it is an old computer that has not been used for quite a while

Make sure there are no floppy disks, usb thumb drives, zip disks, cds, or dvds in the computer when you are turning it on. Power it completely off and try again.

If that doesn't work, open the computer and make sure the connections to the hard drive are secure. You could even try unplugging both the power cable and the data cable from the hard drive and reseating them.

have you tried going into your bios at start up and seeing what your boot sequence is set on. might be looking to boot up from cd drive and either theres a disk in there or the drive is bad. can try to start pc with your windows disk in the drive to see if boots from the disk. next try hitting f11 at start up to get to system recovery and follow the instructions.

Reboot and select proper boot device

Hi, ull need to check the boot device priority in ur BIOS which is accessable usualy by pressing the delete key at the start of the boot process. If everthing is correct there and yet it doesnt boot from ur hard disk, try changing it to boot from cd and check if it boots. If it does then i think either your hard disk is corrupted or your OS.

Recovery disk needed

reboot
on reboot, enter BIOS setup, F1 Esc, whatever the prompts say
and change the boot sequence to a valid drive.
This may not work since you did not say what occurred to __kup the boot sequence
