Hi tcob63 - It sounds like you either had a fight or the laptop was very hot. It's probably thermal shutdown but if it won't power up even after cooling off you may have problems. Take a vacuum or a shop vac, which ever has the strongest suction, and hold it each vent abd then slowly move it back and forth over the vent. Make sure you get them all. You'd be surprised how little dust it takes to heat those things up. (and if you have pets, geez) Especially because you have an Intel CPU chip which gets hotter than others. If that doesn't work I can talk you through takig off the bottim and clening off the heat sink. That dissipates heat off the cpu. It's easy for dust to clog this and make it run hot. Clean out any fan openings if you have any too. Let me know what happemns please. Thanks.

    Jeff

I just did this for my laptop and it booted right up after I blew out all the dust. Thanks for the tip!

M115 s1061 overclock

Overclock can be done by setting fsb higher by percentage to speed up cpu frequency by percentage. But some cpu can not be overclocked and may overheat and shut down. And some drams can not be changed to higher fsb.

Toshiba m115-s1061 very slow on the internet. what can i do to make it faster

  1. Keep it cool. Despite its name, you lap is not the best place to put a laptop. Laptops generate a lot of heat, which can have a severe effect on your laptop's performance. Try not to use it in a hot room. Never set it on a bed, pillow, upholstery or anything else that is soft. Instead, place your laptop on a hard surface like a table. If you like using your laptop in bed or on the couch, try putting a book or a thick magazine in your lap and then setting the laptop on top of that. Every ten minutes or so, turn the book over so the surface never gets too hot. This will absorb the heat.
  2. Step2Shut down unneeded programs before using power-hungry software like games or large spreadsheets. The more programs you have running at the same time, the worse your computer's performance will be. Most computers have a lot of unneeded programs running in the background from the moment you boot up your computer. Shut them down manually using Ctrl+Alt+Delete, or download a freeware application that will shut them down for you. If you have Wndows Vista, you can also access the start up configuration by selecting "Run" from the accessories menu, then typing "msconfig" in the box

Screen goes dark

Either the backlight lamp or the invertor for it is failing. I suspect the colors and contrast isn't as it once was either.

Usually for lot of computers works if you take off time battery from motherboard and for laptop also main battery so totally power off for 20min, but it don't work for some laptops if they write pass on hdd or chip. If this don't work then you have to visit service.

Cowboysfan.

Sound like the power supply could be faulty, have you tryed the power supply with an alternate mains lead?

Do you know any one else with the same laptop? Could you try their power supply?

Could you try your supply on their laptop?

Could you check the output of the power supply with a meter?

If you need any more help please let me know.

I think the only way you can reset the bios is to momentarily short the cmos battery and apply main power to laptop.
Of course to do that ,you will need to dissemble the laptop.
