Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My RCA F38310 TV is still inoperative. I tried the reset procedure suggested by Cindy Wells but it made no difference. The on/off button turns the power light on and off but it does not affect the TV and I get no sound and no audio, not even static. I have already swapped a common board to break with another F38310 I have access to, but no luck. Any other ideas before I give up>

First you have to insure, Standby and Run Power

Supply is working ( Including the Module ).

If those are OK , then check Flyback

If it is oscillating

Trying to hook up surround sound receiver just like the manual shows but I cant get any sound from the tv but I can get music from the tuner part any suggestions?

Have you enabled the external speaker option on your TV and the set isn't on Mute? Check that you have the surround system's receiver set to the correct input. Next, check the audio level. On some sources for the TV, I need the volume at 65. Other sources sound fine with the receiver at 45. Check that the audio matches that being sent by the TV. On my TV, I needed to go to the Menu > Audio Settings to find the option for turning on the external speakers. Then I had to set the speaker system to Multi-Channel for our specific setup. (There were several options, including Dolby. For my specific setup, these other options didn't give the correct sound.) Finally try a different audio cable between the TV and the receiver.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the make and model number of your TV for additional advice. Adding the type of connection (digital audio (optical/coaxial), HDMI, RCA) will help me suggest potential problem areas.

I cant figure out how to put the tv on video 1

With the remote in TV mode, the input button on the remote should change the source (TV, AV1, etc. depending on the TV).

If the input button doesn't work, try a different code for your TV manufacturer. A code that controls the basic functions of the remote may not control the full set of functions of the TV. For some TVs, you can change the source from within the Menu. (It depends on the TV. I didn't notice if there was a Menu button that will open the TV menu on the RCA RCU600M.)

If none of the codes work, check if your TV has a Source or Input button on the unit. See if that button works.

If you have a different remote, please indicate the model.

I hope this helps.

We lost the remote and we are trying to hook up our Wii to the front panel box. How do we change the input to the front panel without the remote

On the side of the TV there are a set of buttons. An Input button is next to the Menu button and will let you access the different sources connected to the TV. For the front panel input, look for the source labeled Front. (There are also volume control and channel +/- buttons.) The button order is Input, Menu, Vol -, Vol +, Ch -, Ch +.

If you want, you can get a substitute remote that is guaranteed to match the original remote's features here: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=32V524T&uuid=12935850039140 .

I hope this wants.

My RCA Universal remote is not working (will not turn the TV on or off). There is no poroblem with the battery.

The remote may have lost the code for the TV. Reprogram the remote.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(I had a universal remote that would lose the program code due to the program button being pressed when the remote was picked up or put down.)

Is there a reset button on a rca 38310 tv?

No   If it doesn't turn on then it has failed.  It either requires an eprom chip replacement, or the horizontal output transistor failed because of a dried out electrolytic capacitor.  Often the voltage rectifier needs to be replaced too

Press menu on the remote. Press the cursor up or down button untill the word CC is highlighted. Press the cursor right button to select Closed Caption 1. You will likely have to do this with the original remote. A universal remote may not allow you to do this.
