Sony vaio vgc-ls30e: press power and it boots up but you cant see any of it. just see a white screen but it does flicker to all black screen quickly once or twice. i know its booting but i cant see anything. what can i do to positively identify the real problem? thanks
Plug in an external monitor and use the F key with the FN to toggle between lcd and external monitor. On my laptops It is the FN and F5. If the external monitor works the problem is the the inverter board, the flex ribbon cable or the LCD. If the external monitor is also messed up then the problem is probably the video card/ motherboard.

The vaio i have is a all in one desktop and it doesnt have any external monitor plug ins.
I have the same problem on model VGC-LS25E. Only a little over a year old ... just after the warranty ran out :(
Any new advice?
I have the same problem. Each time I boot the PC it goes through its normal process but the screen is all white, with the exception of a couple flashes to all black for brief periods during the boot up process.
augh,,same problem,,I have a vaio all in one and this week you turn it on and all that comes up is the white screen,,,it has sound as if starting,,but nothing else,,,you cant even get to the restore key,
Can just make out "VAIO" on the screen when booting.
