Question about Mitsubishi Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

This unit will not cool. The heat pump seems to work fine. Unit is fully charged. One tech seemed to think it might be a valve of some sort. Never been used.

I would check the wiring between the indoor and outdoor units...
There also should be some led lights blinking that will help you troubleshoot the problem...

Here is a tip about Mitsubishi Air Conditioners and how to get the manuals for all of the Mitsubishi line. The manual include both troubleshooting and installation.

Our outdoor condensing unit (ruud upmc030jaz) runs continuously when outdoor temps in the 30's or 40's. never seems to catch up. I had a tech. check system and he said it was working fine. We're trying to...

Don't know if unit is big enough without doing a manual j. But if house is well insulated and double pane windows it should be. You air handler should have heat strips in it for aux heat. If not then you should have some put in probably 10k. You can use emerg. heat but will run bill up. Need to have Freon checked in unit.

I bought a new Goodman heat pump in jan 2010. It has a 2 1/2 ton compressor with a 3 ton A- coil. I was told by them this would work fine with an expansion valve.`I have had nothing but problem since...

The "A" coil will generally be larger than the outside coil as far as the tonnage goes. When a unit has an expansion valve the charge should be based on subcooling instead of superheat. The reason for this is that the expansion valve acts to maintain a constant level of superheat. The best solution may be to have all the refrigerant recovered, then weighed back into the system. The length of lineset should also be checked. Units come precharged with enough for 25' of lineset and the charge will need to be adjusted for more or less that 25'.

I have a Klimaire 1200 btu heat pump split system brand new I installed myself (this is the third one I have installed). It worked fine for a couple of weeks and then the outside unit began to cut off...

Often on those types of units they use a sensor to sense the temperature of the return line to prevent liquid floodback...
I am thinking the either there is a shot of really sold coming back soon after startup or that the sensor is bad and is being too sensitive, shutting the unit down when it really does not have too...after it does this once it is more stable and it does not happen again til the end of the cycle...

Actually I think that it may be overcharged and theat is what is causing the problem...
Do you have a very short line set on thsi unit??
Was it setup with a precharged unit and lineset??? or did you build the lineset and then charge it your self???

Our a/c-heat pump unit was replaced for our home. This unit throws hot air in the summer and cold air during the winter. We have called service techs numerous times and no one seems to find the issue....

The issue is with the thermostat wiring. Depending on the heatpump, the Y1 wire is used to start the compressor, usually in the heating mode and the O wire operates the reversing valve, to bring on cooling. The crossed wire could be at the thermostat or at the unit. You likely have had techs that have little or no heat pump experience, this is a simple issue. Locate a good heat pump tech and have him/her fix it. Document the repair and send a demand for repayment from the ones that have been out. They need the education such a bill will bring them

Noisy and inconsistent cooling

It could be that there is a problem with the Thermostat\low voltage switching. Some heat pumps have reversing valves activated for cooling , sometimes for heating. Whoever installed this for you is totally responsible for your unit still. There can be a number of things going wrong, like no filter drier in stalled and sporatically clogging the refrigerant and making a lot of noise. Call the installer back.

A/c cooling fine but not heating

The fan generally does not come on until the unit has achieved some high head pressure so that it can produce hot air. If it is low on gas it will not get to this stage.

Goodman CAPF4860C6AA not cooling properly

It sounds like it needs to be charged. What you need to do is shut the system down for 24 hours in order to let the unit thaw. Then if you are not EPA certified, you need to have a repair tech come out and charge your system. That should be it unless you have a leak in the lines.

When the unit does what you say does the fan motor outside stop also , if it does that means it is in defrost mode and should kick back over to normal after the system heats up the coil enough
