Materials Needed:
4 Cans Wheel Paint, Mineral Spirits, 2 Cans Clear Coat, 2 Tack Cloths, 600 Grit Sandpaper, 1000 Grit Sandpaper, 2000 Grit Sandpaper, Degreaser, Vehicle Polish, Enormous Index Cards from Walmart.
Remove your wheels numb nuts. Clean the wheels completely with degreaser twice. Wet sand the wheels with the 600 coarseness sandpaper.
Attempt and keep up a perfect situation where you will paint. Place the record cards in the middle of the edge and the tire as to not get paint everywhere throughout the tire.
Wipe down with the tack fabric, and splash 3-4 layers of the Wheel Paint. First coat ought to be light, you need to splash in spots to get all the difficult to achieve territories first. Ensure you do your 3-4 coats in a one hour time period.
You need to wet sand with 1000 coarseness sandpaper to get any blemishes out. In the event that there's any spots that are not painted accurately, or the sanding pulled all the paint off, correct them.
After you wet sand, clean them with mineral spirits and wipe down with the tack fabric. Put some new cards on them. Also, shower 2 layers of clear. First coat is light, second coat ought to be medium substantial. The unmistakable is dubious as you need to layer it on there great, however not all that much that it'll dribble.
After a decent measure of time drying (I allowed it one night) wet sand with 2000 coarseness sandpaper to try and out a portion of the unmistakable coat. At that point clean with your decision of clean. What's more, wax them so the brake dust falls off simpler. You need to ensure while your procedure is going on with the wheels that you do the inside tops too.
I have recently colored the brake caliper with the best brake caliper paint. If you need any suggestion to color I have the tutorial to share.
I just did this to my 2004 hatchback. Same deal. It's really easy and fun, but can take some time. If this is your first time doing this, I'd stay start with one wheel and see how it turns out. It'll give you a bit of experience when you attempt to do the next three (all at once of you choose).
You'll basically need to thoroughly clean your rims inside out. After the rims dry, use some really smooth sandpaper (1200-1500) with lots of water. Take your time with this.
After you're satisfied with how smooth it looks, lay down three layers of a spray-on primer, with a five-minute wait in between, then wait about 20 minutes.
Now lay on three layers of paint (wait about 20 minutes between coats). Let it dry [overnight].
The following night, make sure it's clean, and spray a layer or two of protective/clear spray.
It cost me about $50 to paint all four rims and my brake calipers, and it was fun, too. It's fun to improvise every now and then. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm no pro, but I've done this before.
After a good washing and cleaning I would use a spray paint that is for painting the car engine. You can find different colors at Auto Zone.
Sand blast first..........Then prime and paint with rock guard black or powder coat them which include backing as well......Hope this helps.
