Re:"is superimposed, also it takes ages to turn on"

That means that the TV is defective. Symptoms are those of a defective main controller board or defective LCD panel. The PSU must also be tested, as incorrect voltage from PSU to main controller may also cause similar problems.

I think that the best thing to do is contacting Akai support to get a quote on repair or to arrange repair under warranty.

Akai can be contacted using this online form.

2 possible causes:
1 -  the problem is in the syncro stage of your tv - the signal is not interlaced correctly. This was caused by the aging of the components that have thrown out of sync the local vertical oscillator .
You can't fix that yourself, the tv must be put on a test stand for indepth testing and adjusting.
2 - this is caused by a bad connection that is causing interferences. Firs make sure the antenna (if you have one) and its cable are in good condition. Then check the plug on the cable and the socket on the tv for loose connections. Finally unplug the tv, open its back cover and check for loose wires inside. If you can't find one then a capacitor has aged and the signal is partially shorted to the ground. Again to find it you need to do a thorough testing.
Take your tv to a repair shop - the fix shouldn't be very expensive (ask a quote to be sure, you might on a greedy person).

No, it shouldn't work like that, the image should appear in less than 15 seconds and be crystal clear. The tv must be opened and tested.

But since you have mentioned that it starts slowly you should also check the status of the tube : slow startup time and blurry image is a textbook manifestation of an aged, worn out tube. Since replacement tubes are no longer in production you will need a new tv very soon.

How to set convergence on Projection TV ' s

I have given an general explanation on most projection TV ' s

  1. Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  2. Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  3. Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  4. Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  5. Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  6. Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  7. Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  8. Repeat these steps for all colors.

Time and date not coming in the print

time and date are not superimposed on 2006 cameras and later. However it can be printed:

Solution
sp.gif sp.gif Current camera models (after 2006) do not have a superimpose function to display the time or date stamp on pictures. However, the time and date can be printed on images from a computer using Picture Motion Browser software. Additionally, if the camera is compatible with Canon® PictBridge™ technology, the time or date can be added to a picture by a printer that also has built-in PictBridge technology.
NOTE: When time and date stamp information is superimposed on an image file, it cannot be removed without editing or cropping the image. Therefore, the function to superimpose the time and date stamp was removed from newer-model cameras to prevent users from accidentally overlaying the information on images when the feature was inadvertently turned on.

There are few dried capacitors at the power board. They need to be replaced.

I have a Sony DSC-W230 and would like to know how set the date on the picture? Tks Joe

Option 1:
Using the supplied Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software, you can print images with date. Refer page # 87 of 129 of the Handbook of the Camera for this instruction

Or

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C298326

Option 2:

Your Camera (DSCW220) does not have a feature for superimposing date on images. However, because the images shot with the Camera includes information on the recording date, you can print images with date superimposed if the Printer or the Software ca recognize "Exif" information. For compatibility with 'Exif' information, consult the manufacturer of the printer or the software.

Option 3:

If you use a photo printing service, ask them to superimpose the date on images.
