Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If you have checked the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

OK above a DIY site, above that are two service manuals, for troubleshooting, they are not exact make and model, but they are all generic, if you need exact parts data you will have to get an exact manual for your machine.

Is this normal for Miele dishwasher? - some water left below filter and not everything dry after cycle

Plastic items do not get dry because they do not get as hot as glassware. A lot of moisture inside is do to the evaporation of water on the dishes during the dry cycle. Some water remains in the dishwasher because it is impossible to pump all of it out. There is nothing wrong with your dishwasher.

Dishwasher washes dishes but does not dry even though that display shows dry icon

First ,Check for a water puddle on the bottom of the dishwasher .If you have water there, you more than likely have a plugged drain or drain hose, or bad drain pump (less likely) If no water is there see if the dishes are hot after a cycle. If they are not you could have a bad heater (that circular thing on the bottom of the dishwasher) other problems could be the timer or computer Depending on the model brand and age of the dishwasher .One last thing there is a vent to let moisture escape that could be bad but then you would have hot wet dishes

When in use, my dishwasher at times, makes a lot of repeating noise and it appears to tick.. th digital reading on the right blinks CL CL CL CL then HOT then goes back to tell you the remaining time, and...

Some dishwasher noises are normal, like the hiss of water rushing through the water inlet fill valve, or the hum of the pump motor, or the slosh of water. But if your dishwasher is making strange sounds or is unusually loud, it's time to investigate. A thumping noise could be the drain line vibrating against the cabinet; a grinding noise could be caused by a popcorn kernel being stuck in the chopper blade area of the dishwasher.
The CL is normally indicated child lock has been activated.
Dishes typically dry by the end of the dishwashing cycle, with one exception-plastic items. Because plastic doesn't retain heat like glass, ceramic and metal do, you'll almost always see drops of water on plastic items after the cycle finishes. Rinse aid helps water drain off all dishes so they dry better. Make sure that you fill that rinse aid dispenser when it's empty. A heated dry setting also is an option to enhance drying. You may have this option turned off to save energy, but if your dishes aren't drying as well as you'd like them to, you might want to consider turning it back on. Consult your owner's manual and select the cycle options that fit your needs and your energy usage goals. If your dishes don't get dry even though you've selected the heated drying option, then the heating element could be broken or the high-limit thermostat for the element may have tripped in error, preventing the element from heating. A malfunctioning vent or drying fan could also prevent dishes from drying. Check out this troubleshooting video that could help you correct a drying problem: Dishwasher Not Drying Dishes Video.

Doesn't clean well. leaves detergent food residue. has strong odor if door is closed and then opened. Doesn't rinse well. Doesn't dry dishes.

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound. If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve.
Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete.
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.
The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

My still leaves a lot of water on the dishes themselves. It seems to clean and drain ok but does not seem to dry like it used to.

Be sure that your rinse aid is full. Without the chemicals in the rinse aid the dishes take a lot more to dry.

First off, there should not be any (visible) water standing in the bottom of the dishwasher after the cycle is done. If yes, check the drain, installation of drain line, etc.
Second: The LG is a very energy efficient dishwasher, but in order to acheive this, it does not use a heater to dry the dishes. It relies on the residual heat from the hot water used in the wash cycle, plus a small fan to vent some moist air. It is imparative that you have soft water and use a product such as Jet Dry to assist with drying on the LG dishwashers. Even at that, plastic items (which retain little heat from the water) will not dry well, if at all. Plates, pots, glass, anything with some mass will dry. You may have to adjust the Jet Dry dispenser setting up a bit. If it is set too high, you will get white streaks on your dishes, so then back it off just a bit.

When the dishwasher completes washing the dishes are clean and dry but the water doesn't completely drain. There is about 1 inch of water at the bottom.

Dishes and inside the washer are not drying

Make sure that the drain hose is connected as per manufacturer instructions, and that there isn't a direct run down from the sink u-bend to the machine. The rinse agent effects dishes dry but has nothing with the water remaining in the machine. Good luck!
