You may have tangled thread or the bobbin not threaded right. Totally rethread your machine according to your manual. If, you do not have your manual handy, download one for free at singerco.com. Good luck

Are you getting knots under the fabric when you sew? If so, that is bird nesting (thread nesting) and is commonly a top thread issue. Most often the thread is not seated fully in the tension disk or the top tension setting is off.

Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
Set the tension at the midway point and then tweak it so the top and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

The drop in bobbin on my Singer model 600 will jam up when sewing. It will be okay for a short time and than jam up again. It will cause the thread to knot up when sewing w/material. Help

may have to go into an authorized singer repairer for that problem..

might not just be the bobbin but the tension of the cotton winder for the bobbins
or needle pickup issue

Thread bunches up into a knotted mess on bottom. Bobbin doesn't sit flat inside the bobbin case but spins with a tilt, lower on the left and higher on the right. Bobbin touches plastic cover plate.

Usually, thread bunching under the fabric is an upper tension issue. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the upper thread.

With the bobbin case operating at a tilt, there is something mechanically wrong with the machine. It may be best to take it for service.

I have a singer 201 knee control and I love it until today.

try these suggestions
rethread the machine top and bobbin, using every thread guide
try a new needle--one for the fabric being sewed--make sure the needle is inserted correctly into the needle holder
make sure the thread does not come off the thread take up lever
try a different bobbin
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint

Singer touch sew 645

Singer website has a plethora of manuals to download, http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals is the link, your manual is there for $15. If the bobbin thread is knotting up in the bobbin then I'd say you need to rewind a fresh bobbin and make sure it is smooth with even tension as it goes onto the bobbin. If your bobbin thread looks a bit chunky and uneven, then you won't get good results from it. Also, check that you are putting the bobbin into the bobbin case the right way, the thread needs to come off the bobbin and make a reverse direction into the tension spring (assuming yours is a removeable bobbin case, not top loading)

I have a singer sewing machine Model #4622A. I cannot get the bobbin case to stay in the machine. It will sew a little, then the bobbin thread gets knotted up and the fabric gets caught in the foot feed....

Hello. Are you putting the presser foot down before sewing? Check also the stitch length, set it to at least 3, and make sure it's not set to a darning stitch or hand embroidery stitch that lowers the feed dog.

Singer 301a sewing machine does not sew for more than 2 secs...top thread just knots into a huge ball on bottom of fabric...everything is threaded correctly and all tension set well...next step is trash...

Recheck the top thread and bobbin tension for equal balance of thread when sewing. The knotting of thread problem is usually because the tensions are too tight or too loose and/or thread may not be properly threaded. Another reason is when the bobbin thread is wind imbalanced it will cause the thread to knot-up when sewing. This problem is notorious when the bobbin is winded within the bobbin case on some machines. The bobbin thread need to be wind smoothly in the bobbin to avoid this problem.

Bobbin thread knotting up

Well I have to say the first problem is with "we sew". How many people are trying to sew at the same time ": ).......
That was supposed to be funny by the way.

The problem is listed under Singer but you didn't include the model #.
Depending on what model it is it may be a factor so please respond with that info. Thanks.

What I can tell you is that the most common cause of this is incorrect bobbin tension.
