Question about Motorola Mobility MOTOROKR EM330 Cell Phone

4 Answers

I purchased a "refurbished" Motorola EM330. I think the volume is muted. I can be heard by whoever I call, but I can hear nothing. How can I un-mute it, if that is the problem?

Thanks. Yes, I have tried the volume controls, both on the side and using the up and down arrows on the keypad. That is why I wonder if it is somehow muted. Nothing in the manual or any of the pdf files I have downloaded. I was hoping there was a simple button push on one of the menus that would take care of it. I don't have a clue how to change the phone speakers, although I have two more with broken hinges that do work.

Thanks for your interest. Any more thoughts?

Thanks. I have determined that the volume bars on the screen are at a maximum, so it appears the speakers are bad, or disconnected. Thanks for the help.

Hi, Thanks for your help. I downloaded a couple of MP3 files, and it plays them with no problem. The volume indicator for both the ringer, and when connected to another phone are at 7. However, I still am unable to hear anything from the other phone. Maybe something else is wrong. As mentioned before, they can hear me speaking, but I can't hear them.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,
Well, I tried putting it in speaker mode, but still nothing. So, I don't think it is with the earpiece. When I go to mute/unmute (thanks for telling me where to find that) nothing happens so I guess it is something more serious. Thanks for your interest and advice. Very helpful

    Thanks again. Gary

This is a very common issues with all the mobile phones. Speaker and or mike goes bad due to fair wear and tear. If you will go in the market tell him the make and model of your mobile they will give you the speaker for your handset. Rest assure that your phone is not on mute as it is showing the max volume indicator. Now the only way to get sound out of your handset is either use a headphone or purchase the new speaker hardly 1cm by 1cm with pushfit tech. You need to open up your handset take out the old speaker with the help of a tweazer and push in the new one. Before pushing in the new one make sure that there is no dust particles on the contacts of speaker on the main pcb of phone. The speaker might cost 2 to 3 $

Hi,
When ever you end the call it will unmute the phone. This problem seems to the ear piece problem. While on call try putting the mobile in loud speaker mode.Check whether you can hear them.If you can hear them then the problem is with th ear piece only.
To unmute - When on call Select option > Unmute
To Put in load speaker - Press centre button and > Speaker ON
Thank You

Firstly, check if you can play music. If you cant, then the speaker has got disconnected. It needs connection. Ringer and speaker are different. If you can hear music then check the settings and see if you have inadvertently set the volume so low that you cant hear anything.

If the volume is the problem all you have to do is go to settings: call settings: and change the volume. Or simply you dial a number while the call is in progress you increase the phone volume this should automatically increase the call volume. The volume can be increased with the volume control buttons usually on the side of your device or the up scroll button. If on the other hand the volume is already high then you have to change your phone speakers.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

When you try increasing the volume from the side and the navigation keys does it display a volume increment screen? If this is positive then the problem is with your speaker you should get it replaced.

I can hear but people can't hear me

Try to unmute the headset. This may be your problem. The mute function is enabled through the volume buttons. Simply tap both volume buttons at the same time until you hear a mute tone. The mute tone when unmuting the call will be a descending tone. When you tap both volume buttons, if you hear a descending tone you have just disabled the mute function and your problem is solved. If the mute tone is ascending tones you have just enable the mute function and this was not the issue. If this is the case consult your user manual or contact Motorola for trouble shooting.

Tap both volume buttons to mute/unmut. If that does not solve it i have heard many accounts of these headsets having back mic's.
