Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 8

1 Answer

Ihad a hard drive failure. After having the hard drive replaced my computer was reloaded from my rescue disks, then everything was updated, with Windows XP, SP3, and IE8. Now I get an error on page notice on almost every website I visit. I can only see part of my home page on Facebook, and cannot do anything with my page. I cannot view my friends list, and cannot even delete my account to open a new one. I have tried clearing my cache and restarting, and that didn't help. Any suggestions?

Try the Kaspersky Rescue Disk. You will need a USB flash memory device ("memory stick") and a working computer with Internet access to download and prepare the Rescue Disk program. Follow the directions in the page linked below. The USB memory should be at least 512 MB, formatted as a FAT32 device, and contain no critical files (contents will be wiped by the preparation process).
How to record Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 to USB device and boota computer...

The Rescue Disk takes over the boot process and runs its own operating system rather than the one that has been sabotaged. Consequently, it is not blocked by damaged or bypassed system files on your hard drive, and can get into them for repairs.

If you wish to retain the Rescue Disk for future use, follow the links for updating its virus removal database to see what information you will need to make a network connection (numbers from the Network Control Panel of your computer once you get it running again). Since the Rescue Disk operating system is necessarily minimal, Internet connection information has to be entered manually. You may find it simpler to make a fresh Rescue Disk install instead if you are confident you will have access to a working computer the next time you need to do so.

Hard drive crashed. Got another hard drive and rescue disks from laptop mfr. Reloaded my 5D Professional and everything was fine. Then MS said Windows 7(64bit) had to download a bunch of updates.

Suggest you TURN automatic updates OFF. Use the manual method, and download the ones you want.

Reload your Windows 7 64-bit with auto updates turned off.
Now try it.

[ Windows XP Service Pack 3 s-ucked too. Problem, after problem, after problem. What to do? Oh, we'll just make another Operating System, (Vista), and sweep that under the rug.

Vista? Give me a break.
Oh, we'll just make another Operating System, and sweep that under the rug.

Now, look at how new Windows 7 is. Guess what?
Windows 8 is just around the corner.

You can see your problem started with the auto updates)

Hard disks with S.M.A.R.T. technology have internal checks that may identify problems with your hard disk that may lead to fatal failures, warning yu in advance (it is very common when people hit or let their laptops bump against the table - hard disk drives are very sensitive to shocks and bumps...)

One way to solve your problem could be to download and install a 30-day trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2011 from  and use it to generate a full backup image of your hard disk into an external USB hard disk drive . Please, generate also the Bootable Rescue Media CD.

Then buy a replacement disk, install it in the laptop and use the Bootable Rescue CD to start Acronis True Image directly from the CD and recovery your backup, reinstalling everything back to your laptop, in just a few minutes.

Although using the trial version of Acronis True Image will help you in this emergency case, you might want to buy it as it is an exceptional tool to have for cases like this.

Another way would be to download all the drivers for the devices installed in your computer, save them in a CD or flash drive, buy and install a new hard disk, buy a Windows installation CD and reinstall your laptop from scratch, using the drivers you downloaded earlier to reinstall them to your laptop..

Hope this info may help you.

My hard drive stop working and cant open it am no good on computer would like to talk to someone on the phone if it possible my number is 705-969-8679

If the disk-drive has "failed", then it must be replaced:
* turn the computer off
* disconnect the AC power
* remove the side-panel(s)
* remove the cables (data & power) that connect to the disk-drive
* remove the screws that hold the disk-drive in the frame
* remove the disk-drive
* take it to a computer-store
* show it to them, and they will sell you a compatible disk-drive
* reverse all the above "remove" steps to connect the new disk-drive
* turn the computer on
* insert the "System Restore" CD/DVD disk that came with your computer
* Windows will be installed onto the new disk-drive
* run Windows Update, several times, to get all the latest security-updates for Windows
* install free anti-virus software:

However, it's possible that your disk-drive is still working, and all your "data" files on the disk-drive can be "rescued", even through Windows is not starting-up completely & properly.
Take your computer to a qualified technician, for trouble-shooting & repair.

DELL Studio 1737, last week my computer shut down and now all I have is a message that states the following....SMART Failure Predicted on hard disk 0: WDC WD3200BEVT-75ZCT2-(S1)......WARNING: Immediately...

It sounds like the failure message is saying your hard drive is about to lose sector 0. But if you press F1 it will let you continue your boot and then you can backup your computer.

You can just do the system backup to a set of DVD's as instructed by the dell restore disk creator program. I have done this for my mothers home pc and works pretty well. Then when the HD does finally fail you can replace it and reload your system with the newly made restore disks.

I have a Lacie 500gb

Clicking noise is indicative of hardware failure. You could of course try a different computer, but chances are it's a goner. With hardware failure, the only way I know of rescuing data, is sending it to a data rescue company. Expensive. Which is why you need a minimum of two copies of everything you plan to keep..

Hard disk failure

I recommend backing everything up onto a cd or dvd, usb hard drive or whatever immediately. If your hard drive is damaged, it needs replaced and you will lose everything on it 100% of the time. After replacing your hard drive, you'll need to reload your operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux, whatever you have). If you need instructions to do this yourself, let me know. Good luck!

Norton rescue disk removal

Your best bet is to go to and download a program named Revo Uninstaller. It's free and will clear out everything down to the depths of the registry.

If even Revo doesn't see it, I would reload Norton on your system, then uninstall with Revo.
