Question about Abit VI7 Motherboard

1 Answer

I have a ABIT-V17 Motherboard with intel pentium 4 CPU and 1GB\RAM.. and Windows 7 Ultimate OS... I was doing a system cleaning when I removed the power cord and turned off the power I started taking my components out to clean them... I took out my processor and everything else then took out the motherboard. I cleaned everything off with a paper towel and then vacuumed out all dust from the system frame... I put everything back into the computer wrote every thing and where it went then I started it up and i got to Windows 7 Ultimate login screen and logged on right as it was showing my "Welcome!" it showed a BSOD it was because of Hardware Failure... So I thought its normal because after something like that it would be slow for the first time so I started it up again and it didn't even get past the intel branding screen... so I restarted the computer and it didn't do anything it just sat there with nothing on the screen... I took out the processor and realized it was ice cold. and I have been trying to figure this whole thing out I double checked everything and reset the CMOS and now I decided I need Professional Help with this problem... Please Help with this situation

U indicated that you were able to get into the bios. Strange that all you did was dis assembly the PC, put it back together the same way, and now it does not work. Assuming you put everything back the exact same way it should work. Make sure that all of your connections are good and tight. Also check to see if the PS is working or connected properly. Try disconnecting all components except the memory and monitor and boot. If it works to a screen turn it off and start hooking up other peripherals one by one till you get no video or it stops working.
A bad peripheral can often disrupt a normal boot up process and cause all sorts of mayhem.. Check them all out.

And make SURE that your memory chips are in there properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: I installed everything the CPU, RAM, and

ok, looking at the specifications All I can recommend is the following. double check the Video card to make sure it is properly seated and that it does not exceed the capabilities of the motherboard. 2 Disconnect everything from the motherboard except the CPU and case wiring/power supply and turn the computer on. If the system completes the post test, you will hear at least 1 beep and should hear several for the video card not being connected, then start installing components 1 at a time till you find the one causing the problem. Start with the Video card and then the ram as these are most likely where your problem is unless you have a faulty power supply which will be the problem if you don't get a completed post with nothing else connected.

U may always refer to it motherboard to get to know the supported hardware that plug to it. Since u are mention about Intel 945G/GZ/P/PL family motherboard, each type of the motherboard (type G, GZ, P, PL) have their own specification, but the same thing is their are design to support Intel Core 2 Duo. Pentium D or Pentium 4 processor. And all can support DDR2 memory. Here you can refer to the manual of the motherboard for more details e.g. pg17 (availability 2009Nov16): http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/datashts/307502.htm
