You need to take the carb off and clean it out real good.i would suggest soaking it in mineral spirits and blowing it out with air.take a bread tie and strip it.then you can take the tie and clean the passage way,s in carb.if that don,t work try rebuilding or replacing carb.I hope this helps.Dale

My old Honda 215 lawn mower is not getting gas like it should it's not receiving gas or letting it stay in the the lines it turns off after maybe two minutes

If you have a fuel bowl on the bottom of the carb.take it off and clean it also cleaning the fuel jet. I use air pressure to blow out the fuel jet. A dirty jet will not let enough fuel to keep engine running. if you don't have air pressure a real fine wire will clean the jet as well . Be very careful you don't let the float come apart.

Machine is 1year old and after priming will run for 5 seconds will stall. I presume the carb is the problem. Is there a video on how to clean this properly for this model.

If there is a fuel bowl on the carb take that off and clean it out. There also should be a fuel jet possibly in the bolt that holds the bowl on. Make sure you blow them out and are clean. Make sure your gasket is replaced properly when reassembly.
You could run carb cleaner through it as well. Dirty carb sounds like your problem.

Lawnmower carburetor problem.

Remove carb float bowl. Check float operation. Float down gas flow, float up no gas flow. Clean float bowl. Observe bowl screw, see if there is a hole or holes thru the screw. Clean out with thin wire, bread wrapper works peeled back about an inch. Use wire to clean out center port of carb. Remove mounting pin of float, remove float and meter needle, clean out port up thru carb with wire. Reassemble try to start. Prime at least 3 times, ensure primer bulb is not cracked, replace if cracked. Replace air filter if dirty. Replace spark plug once a year. Fill oil. 30w. Mowers now have a low oil cutoff.

Won't stay running after prime runs out

starving for fuel. first check for bad/old gas, then restrictions in the fuel delivery including fuel line, filter, or buildup of debris in tank or any sharp bends or 90deg. fittings. then pull the float bowl and make sure the float is regulating fuel fuel into the bowl, but most likely your main jet is plugged. use a fine piece of wire like guitar string to runthru the jet located at the lowest part of the carb that hangs down into the float bowl. the jet will be on the side or bottom of this lower piece. put bowl back on, get gas to the carb and recheck starting problem. good luck. Automatic governor speed control, no adjustment. Remove & clean spark plug. Remove air cleaner, replace filter if dirty. Check oil level. Remove float bowl from bottom of carb. ensure float hangs freely and gas flows. Push up on float, gas should stop. Remove pin holding float in mount, remove float and meter needle. Clean meter needle passage with small wire. Replace float and meter needle as require. Observe float bowl screw, see if a hole is present thru screw near head, clean with wire. Reassemble. prime, pull rope 4 times 1/2 way. Pull rope up to 10 times to start. ensure fresh gas. Always use Stabile in gas. Spray outside of carb with carb cleaner to ensure choke is free to operate where cable is attached.

I have a 06 honda trx250ex put new gas and oil in it and plug and battery and iit turns over but wont start but when i put started fluid in where the plug goes it starts for like a second or so and quits...

your problem is a clogged carb. clean float valve, main jet and idle circuit with a can of spray carb cleaner.

disconnect fuel hose at carb and see if gas flows.

reconnect hose and open float bowl drain valve. If no gas tap on side of float bowl with plastic end of screwdirver to free up float.

still no gas? remove float bowl and try to shoot carb cleaner into the fitting for the gas line from tank.

if gas flows now then put it all back together and it should run

if not then remove carb and clean carb passages, main jet, idle circuit.

Engine startsa and runs for two minutes and quits

Fuel Starvation - Float Bowl Carburetor
1) remove air filter assembly
*be cautious of tearing the mounting gasket. If it does tear, you HAVE to replace it. It is part of the priming system
2) remove the float bowl fastener. This is the main jet
3) carefully remove the float bowl, the rubber o-ring/gasket will not be able to be used if it is removed, you WILL have to replace it
4) using a spray 'carb cleaner'
spray up thru the center of the carburetor
spray and clean the main jet with cleaner and 'tag' wire
(tag wire is very thin, and can be used to clean the hole in the center of the main jet)
5) clean any debris from inside the bowl or carb body
6) re-install bowl and center bolt, air filter assembly

*if you need gaskets, your Briggs dealer can supply. The kit is cheaper than individual gaskets, and all the parts needed to finish the above repair are in the kit.

My Honda EM650 generator quits running after 15 to 20 minutes. Also the fuel vent line valve leaks while running.

'Vent is leaking while running': can be caused by varnish on the inlet needle/seat and debris in the float bowl.

My mcculloch Macpower pac 800E generator won't start. It had been stored for a long time.

The carb is dirty (varnished) from gas sitting in it. You will need to drain the carb and use carb cleaner to remove the old varnish left in it.
