You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

How I can charge my batteries on my Vivitar Vivicam 8025 if I don't have a battery charger?

Yes, you may charge the battery through the USB connection. Bear in mind that not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries. You may also use an AC-powered USB charger, such as used for some cell phones.

I bought a used Vivitar vivicam 8025 camer off ebay, it didnt come with software, the owner told me i could download it.. is that true? and if so where?

You can get manuals, software (Vivitar Experience) and info from THIS LINK You will need to select "digital cameras" in the first box and your model in the second.

You don't really need software to get the pics onto your computer. There are two ways to do it: connect with a USB lead or take the memory card out of the camera and read it with a card reader attached to the computer.

Using a USB lead, you shouldn't need a driver or other software. The computer can recognise the camera memory as a removable drive without actually recognising the camera as a camera. Try looking in "My Computer" for an extra drive (Under "Devices with Removable Storage") and opening that. There should be directories with picture files in them that you can drag to your desktop.

Many people find it more convenient to just take the memory card out of the camera and put it in a card reader, especially now that these readers are built into computers and printers. The card then appears in "My Computer" as a removable drive and you can just drag and drop the pictures onto your laptop. You can't get the pics from the camera's internal memory that way though.

Vivitar 8025 comes up with msdc in blue when connected to my pc via usb any solution

MSDC just means Mass Storage Device Class which is the protocol used to connect your camera to the computer over the USB lead. It is not an error message, your camera is just telling you that you are connected to the computer.

Open "My Computer" and look for a new drive under "Devices with removable storage". You should see one that represents your camera's memory. Click on it to open it, then on the folders within it until you find some pics, which you can then drag and drop to your desktop.

You can order the Vivitar Experience program from Vivitar at
http://www.vivitar.com/products/1/digital-cameras/13/vivicam-8025
Click on the "Vivitar Experience Software" link at the lower right of the page.

You should still consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer. If the computer has a USB port, then it can use a card reader. This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. And a small card reader can be less bulky than a USB cord.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

It's supposed to do that, informing you that it's in mass storage mode. Once connected you control it from the computer, not the camera.
