I just received my new nikon d80 but unfortunately the lcd monitor is not working , I mean it doesn't open

Exactly the same problem here. Autofocus not working either. Camera turns off after 3-4 seconds. LCD screen not working, just black.

I'm uncertain of your problem, but you are aware that the LCD screen on the D80 doesn't open physically as some do. Also, you will not see any live images on the screen, only after you have taken a shot.
