my name is Phillip Chang, member of DISH Networks Customer Service and happy to help. Before performing any of these steps, ensure that the weather is clear. Start by pressing the menu button, this can be found on the top left of the DISH Network remote control, then press the numbers 6-1-1, this should take us to the "Point Dish Screen", then select "Check Switch" on the right of the screen, then select "Test" on the following screen. This will acquire the signal. Just a warning, if you get an attention message "836" do NOT save the changes, give us a call at 1-800-333-DISH (3474 for additional trouble shooting.

Hope this helps!

I set my box up and got a lnb error so I changed the coax 2 times and tried 2 diffrent audio video cables but nothing seems to fix the problem I'm using an old ant the plugs in the wall is that why

I suggest you invest a small amount of money in a signal strength meter, usually used for aligning antennas and dishes but can be used for diagnosing faults. If nothing is coming out of the lnb or not managing to find it's way down the coax the box will have nothing to work with.
If there is adequate signal arriving at the box it would indicate a faulty box or bad software.

I have a foxstat -HDR humax box and I am getting no or bad signal on the TV downstairs. I can get some channels but not all.

I suspect that the box upstairs is a Freesat box; a Freeview box requires a feed from an aerial, not a dish.

The problem you are seeing may be caused by water in the cables, if they are not sealed at the LNB. The LNB may be failing, but dish misalignment is more likely.

As there is an unused output on the LNB, try swapping one of the feeds with a poor signal to it.

I have a Zinwell Quad LNB J4S which I have just got around to fitting to my Sky Mini dish and have a problem. There are 2 supplied fixing brackets only one of which fits my dish arm but holds the LMB at...

Hi, You would probably be better of getting a new dish and single 4 output LNB or you could try just ordering a 4 output LNB with a universal bracket especially for the sky dish variants, I have seen these on ebay and have used one successfully myself, I think it only cost me 20 gbp.
If you are having problems in the area with reception it may also pay to get a 90cm dish and 4 output LNB combined.

Hope this helps.

Even Transponderds Zero

Typically that indicates a bad LNB or connection to the LNB. Try moving the line to one of the other three ports on the LNB and if that doesn't work then you will need to replace it

Hi mfpayton with the install of the brand new receiver wealways want to make sure all connections are tight. And after all connectionsare hand tight we will need to run the Check Switch Test. It will provide thestrongest signal to your home and you will see the signal move up into the 65percent range. If after the Check Switch Test it still is a low signal we mayneed to check the connections from the Dish and LNB that is an issue we wouldneed to come out on. I will leave the link to show you how to do the CST.

Changed from single to twin LNB, no signal

Here is a suggestion! Try SKEWING the LNB around a few degrees. Looking at the front of the dish, turn your LNB to the LEFT slightly (that is anti-clockwise).

Sometimes it's the little things that matter most where installation is concerned. It is also possible that due to the weight of the new LNB, the alignment may be out.

No picture on dish tv

The 311 receiver is normall a pretty tough machine. Getting a 70 % signal is normal, and it shouldn't fluctuate too much unless you have something like a tree or other obstacle in the way.

85% of the problems with these older systems is the LNB. I see it all the time.

My first suggestion would be changing the LNB (the eye of the dish). You say that your system is 10 years old, and there are a lot of LNB's out there that go bad over time. It may say that you are getting signal, but the quality may be so poor that the receiver may not know what to do with it.

If you have 2 LNB's (separate eyes) on your dish, then you have two singles or duals with a switch 21. I'd remove these and replace them with a Legacy Twin LNB. If you have a Twin LNB, then replace it with another Twin (especially if it has "lot" number printer in the front of it, these are notoriously bad).

I hope this helps you...

Direct TV

Signal issue generally refers to the satellite dish being out of alignment. If you have a single LNB, (one knob on your dish) you can reaim it with two people, on inside telling you your strength and you aiming the dish. If you have more LNB's, the easiest way is with a satellite signal meter, which can be expensive.
