I turned on my laptop and the function light is on and password prompt is not accepting anything. How do I restart my computer

How to disable drivelock password

The Compaq drivelock feature is designed to protect the data on a laptop's hard drive by assigning a password.


This password protects the drive in the event the laptop is lost or stolen, but can be removed when necessary.


Knowing how to remove or change the drivelock feature can make your Compaq more useful and more secure.


Power on your laptop and enter the drivelock password you established when you turned the drive protection feature on.


You will need this password to access the drive and turn off the drivelock feature.


Click the "Disabled" option in the drivelock menu.

This will turn off the drivelock feature on the Compaq laptop.


Do not enter anything in the password blocks.

Log on to the laptop, click the "Start" button and choose "Shut down." Choose "Restart" from the menu to power cycle your laptop and verify the drivelock setting is off.


If the drivelock setting is off you will not be prompted for a password when the laptop starts up.

After downloading updates my paptop will not configure windows
Try this:

Windows XP

To start System Restore using the Command prompt, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer, and then press and hold F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in safe mode with a Command prompt.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode with a Command prompt option.
  3. If you are prompted to select an operating system, use the arrow keys to select the appropriate operating system for your computer, and then press ENTER.
  4. Log on as an administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials.
  5. At the command prompt, type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER.
  6. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to a functional state.


    Windows 7:

    1. Start your computer in safe mode with command prompt. For more information, see Start your computer in safe mode.

as soon as u turn it on tap F11

choose the option system restore and try

or press alt+D key at the time in recovery console

enter the command "net user administrator /active:yes" without the commas..
restart the computer and u will find the new user account named Administartor...without a password

Product Key number is not accepted after hard drive crashed.
Your WiFi connection is not responsable for this problem.

Uninstall Microsoft Office Professional 2007.

After that type in a command prompt windows the following command: del %temp%\*.* /f /s /q (this command will delete from your computer a lot of temporary files).

Restart your computer and try to install againg your Office 2007.

If you still have a problem with this message that means your KEY is not available or was a trial key.

VAIO PASSWORD
it may not have a password set.
try just pressing enter.
if no password set then entering one would be wrong.
if it has no password then it would accept the blank space left when you just press enter and continue.
if not, let me know and i will try to run you through a few loopholes to get you past it.

Log in issues
If you have another computer at your disposal there's actually a really nice little program called OPHCrack (http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/)

Download the LiveCD version, follow the instructions to burn it to a CD.

Put the newly burned OPHCrack Cd in the Vaio and turn it off.

When you restart you will have the options of wiping the password.
Follow the prompts, and when your done, you will have "blanked" your password.

After that, just go into the "Control Panel" and set up a new password under the User Accounts.
