my washer leaks into the bottom compartments and onto my garage floor. The machine about 2 years old. What is the likely cause?

I am having the same problem. However the water seems to be leaking from the detergent compartments during the rinse cycle. What could be causing this?

I don't think mine is a Duet though. Not sure what it's called - tho I have a few names I have been calling it lately but probably none that I should post here. My Model number is YLEW0050PQ3 if that helps. It was purchased in Feb of 2006 along with the dryer and I basically have been having nothing but problems with it since the warranty expired. It's only 2 years old. My previous machines (GE) were 18 years + old and I had no problems with them! The dryer was great until one day it just died and that is when we decided to replace both machines.

So again the water seems to be leaking from the detergent compartment during rinse cycles. I think it if was a gasket issue, it would immediately during the wash no?

I have to say I am completely disappointed with Whirlpool for A) making a poor product and B) having poor customer service. I've had scheduled appts with service technicians, where they don't even bother to show up. Not to mention, they have no weekend service so I always have to take time off work to accommodate their service times. Then when they do show up they basically do nothing - say "try this and call back if it doesn't work". Well it never works. The last tech blamed the leak on my detergent. I was using Purex HE detergent, which he said wasn't good enough and told me to only use Tide HE detergent. I switched to Tide, the machine still leaks. That piece of advice cost me $85 bux.

I am also not impressed with front loaders. They are very high maintenance. I have heard a lot of people complain about the odor that develops due to the fact that they have a hard time drying out and water has a tendency to remain in the tub causing mold smells. I've tried getting rid of the smell, it's impossible.

Thanks for letting me vent. I hope someone can offer some advice.

Thanks.

Check the rubber bellow (gasket) around the door. This is the symptom of a door gasket that it starting to leak. Pull the rubber folds back and check the area where the gasket attaches to the wash tub. You may have a crack or tear. If the gasket is worn please replay back to this post and I can give you advice on how to replace it and where to get a replacement gasket.
