Do clean out the dust as this tends to cause the fan to become unbalanced.
You may also consider lubricating the bearings. For oil I prefer 100% synthetic which is easily available for cars.

Noisy dehumidifier Frigidaire CAD 704 DWL

First, I'm not a Frigidaire tech.

*** following is for information only ***
* Most dehumidifier components are similar to a standard small refrigerator. Except for a large fan (with corresponding fan noise). It should sound the same but running more often than a refrigerator.
* A dehumidifier is mainly used to remove or control humidity in a specific area. The most common use is to dry carpets or a damp basement.
* Though high ambient humidity (as in Hawaii). Expect the unit to run all the time as moist air seeps into the area.

Why is it noisy and not pulling water from air?

If you can hear its fan running but it produces no condensate, then it's apparent that either the compressor is not running, or that the humidity setting needs to be lowered. If the compressor simply won't start, then it's time to replace that unit. Compressor or controls repair is far too costly. It's best to put that money into a new dehumidifier. Frigidaire units are highly rated and that's what I would recommend as a replacement.

My Haier dehumidifier is really noisy. If we turn it off and restart it, it will run quietly for maybe 4 minutes and then start getting really noisy again. Any ideas what is causing it and what I can do...

Hi,

With the unit unplugged, open the cover and check the alignment of the fan. If the fan is stuck or rubbing against the fan cowling, adjust the fan motor's mounting hardware so that the fan turns freely.

Take care.

MY unit has become increasing noisy and the fan is the mane cause. The fan is now making different noises at differing levels high and low of loudness, and it often quits running all togetger. It is also...

It sounds like the bearings in the motor are worn out, especially as you said it quits running at times. You should be safe in just replacing the fan motor, but check the fan blade to make sure it isn't out of balance for any reason(dirty, missing a balance weight, or bent). Hope I was of assistence!

She was a little noisy with the fan sounding like it was rubbing, today i found no working at all but it was real hot. I opened the back and the fan spins freely and there is a canister that looks like a...

The capacitor should not be hot, so the motor could be drawing high amps do to a worn bearing which could cause the rubbing sound.
With the power off try to move the motor shaft from side to side, it shouldn't move any that way, if it does the bearings are worn and you need to replace the motor and the capacitor. The other cause for the hot capacitor would be a bad capacitor.
If the motor is bad you should also replace the capacitor at the same time.

Yes, the fan motor should come on when you start the unit.
I just came from my basement where i had the same problem.  My fan was not working- it was noisy at first, then it stopped working.  it seems the motor has some play in it and came out of the electromagnetic housing that should make it spin.  once it was slightly out , it no longer spinned.   I took it apart, and then reassembled it nice and tight.  there is still some play, but it is working great.  If it happens again i may try to get a replacement motor.
