The TV is about 1 1/2 years old. This morning I was watching the news, and it just went off. It will not come back on. The red power indicater blinks on and off, but a picture does not appear. Also no sound. What could it be? And is it worth taking it to a repair shop or should I just buy a new TV.
May want to take it in and have the power supply checked. Sounds like you may have blown a fuse inside. Very easy fixed yourself if you can find the right size fuse. Go online and try to find a manual for you model. Good Luck !!

I ouldn't find any good news on the web about this,
so i did a bit of research and discovered that it wouldn't cost me much more than the cost of repair if I went to Best Buy and bought a new HD-TV.
Wow ! The prices have really come down !
Now I'm glad that it malfunctioned !
it sounds to me a transformer in your set has gone hard to say witch. im guessing it is a CRT set the best thing i could suggest would be to take it to your local tv repair shop they should be able to sort this for you and it shouldn't be to expensive.
Either get a priest to do an exorcism..... or it sounds like an internal issue.... likely a bad capacitor. if you are able to do some basic troubleshooting ... remove the back and look for any capacitors with rounded tops.
