Question about Xantrex Technology XPower Powerpack 200 Plus Power Supply (9383183) 200-Watt Power Supply

1 Answer

My Xantrex Powerpack 200 Plus Power Supply has started making a constant "clicking" sound as soon as I attempt to charge the unit with its AC power adaptor. There is an LED next to the charge level indicator that also constantly flashes between green and red while this is occurring. This particular LED is not labled, so I am uncertain what this means. In any event, this clicking will go on indefinitely while connected to an AC power source, and the unit will not hold a charge at all. All accessories do seem to function while it is connected to AC (i.e. flash light, compressor, etc..), but not when disconnected - even after several hours of attempting to charge the unit. Can you tell me what this means and if this condition can be corrected? Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi.

The power pack battery is faulty, the red light and the clicking noise when not connected are symptoms of a state called protection. When the unit is connected to AC protection kicks in because the battery is detected as faulty. The clicking noise is a safety switch that keeps turning the charger off.

I have lost the ac adapter for my Xantrex Powerpack 200 Plus. Where can I get one for a reasonable price?

You need a 12 Volt AC/ 1 AMP (1000ma) charger. You can use one with a lower ma rating but it will take longer to charge. The factory unit will take 35 hours to fully recharge a totally discharged battery. If you use your car's cigarette lighter it will take 3 hours if you're charging and driving. Good Luck!

How long should i charge my jump box

I'm not familiar with this model, but other boxes I've used have all had some kind of power level indicator to show their charge level. I'm sure yours does too. Charge it at least until the indicator shows it's full. You can leave the unit charging for as long as you want, actually. The charging circuitry drops to a low trickle when the unit is fully charged, and won't damage anything by overcharging. (We have one where I work. As soon as we're done jumping something it goes back on charge, and it's over three years old now.)

Hi there I lost my adapter for my FGA # 852 0302 Power pack 300 and I was wondering which adapter I needed and where I can buy one. Thanks Neil

Follow this link for the manual: http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Discontinued-Products/445-0092-98-01_rev_2_(xP300_web_english).pdf

Unfortunately, the manual doesn't list the specifications for the AC adapter you need. You can however, charge the Powerpack via the cigarette lighter in your car. (see p. 16 of the manual). Also, look at p. 23 of the manual.

With Electric down, I just plugged my 12 in. fan into the XPower 200 PLUS after 15 min. the unit started to mum loudly.....and the fan stopped....is that as long as it will work before charged again

That sounds about right. 200 watts isnt alot of power, its enough to power small electronics such as phone chargrers, but if you want to power a high energy product, try a 650-800 watt supply. More watts = longer run time for your devices.

I lost my power supply adapter/transformer....there is no manual....what size do i need for the adapted/transformer

The last item on this page is the user manual for the Xantrex 300
http://www.xantrex.com/power-products-support/document-downloads/discontinued-products/discontinued-products-backup-power.aspx This is a pdf. Right click, and "save as"
I would suggest it will be almost identical to your 200.
From personal experience, I imagine it uses 12volt lead acid sealed cells, Typically this would use a 13 to 14 volt powersupply probably at 2.5 to 3 amps.

You can also charge the device from your cig lighter socket. See pg 16 of manual.

Lost both the Wall AC charger and the DC car charger. Xantrec does not sell either from their website. Xantrec Xpower 200 plus

Try Ebay, sometimes they will have aftermarket ones listed
Go by the output and the style plug in for yours with the model name of your system

Xantrex PowerPack 300 will not hold a charge

Machine no longer takes a charge. Light remains yellow, if you plug anything in there's not enough power. Any suggestions? Purchased XPower Powerpack 300 Plus from QVC appx. 6 - 8 years ago.
