Will not build pressure. It's as if the check valve is stuck open. Where is the check valve and how do I check it.

Easy to check. Follow discharge air tube from compressor to the tank. The brass valve that the tube attaches to is the check valve. You will need some air in the tank for the test. Remove the discharge air tube at tank and spray soapy water. If leaking replace valve or remove and attempt to clean debris. Does not sound like your problem is the valve however. If no leak at valve, check reed valves or head gasket. If your pump is dry lube type, check cylinder for wear / scratches close to top of cylinder. Good luck

Comet axd 3020 will not build pressure

junk axial wobble plate pump. Usually axial pumps are not worth the time to try to fix them. This one has a 5 year warranty , so they think they have a pretty good one. ( I would never buy one) If you want to try to fix it, I would check the check valves first. Take them out and see if some are broken or not sealing properly. There is a valve kit available.
The other likely problem is your unloader valve. If the seal is shot or the valve stuck open the pump will not build pressure.

Hoda power washer low on pressure

Caused by either of two things: The pump is worn and needs to be rebuilt or replaced. OR the pressure relief valve ( protects the motor from excessive pressure build up when you turn spray off) , is stuck in the open position thereby not allowing pump to build up pressure .

I have a mac2200 compressor 4.0gal it will not build pressure pass 45psi What could be wrong

Blown valve plate gasket, bad valve(s), stuck tank check valve, faulty pressure switch, worn piston and cylinder are the most common failures that will cause a compressor to not build up pressure properly.

SSR EP 40 SE shuts down on low unload sump what is probable cause

I would look at the minimum pressure check valve first. If it is stuck in the open position you can not build sump pressure before the unit shuts down. MPCV is located on the top of the separator tank. You can remove it. Check to see if the plunger with the teflon disc is free and not damaged. These valves often seize up due to dirt, rust and condensation. If it is stuck it will need to be disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. It needs to be free enough to slide in the valve body by hand. If the o-ring is bad or damaged you will need to get a kit from IR. I have not been able to find one with out buying a kit. Next I would look at the blow down valve. It is located beside the MPCV at the top of the separator tank. If this solenoid is open it will not let the sump build pressure. Next I would check the Inlet valve actuator cylinder if so equipped. With out the serial number I dont know which type inlet valve is on the unit. If it does have a cylinder does it operate correctly. Is there any free play in the cylinder. If so replace it. Is the cylinder to inlet valve coupling cracked. Remove and inspect. Is the bolt tight at the rear of the cylinder. Will it let the cylinder move. If so you will need to loosen the bolt. Set the controller so you can see sump pressure. Start the unit and Slowly open the inlet valve by sliding the cylinder in and out to get 25psi sump pressure. Then tighten the bolt. if sump pressure drops below 15 psi it will shut down on sump pressure alarm. Good luck !!!

My power washe runs ok, but seems to have stopped producing pressure.

The unloader valve is either stuck open or is defective. The most common problem is the valve gets gunk in it and it gets stuck open not allowing the pressure to build. If you have an owners manual look at the parts section and you will see where the unloader valve is located. If you don't have book go to jackssmallenginerepair.com and go to parts look up and type in your model #. Also check hose to gun and nozzle for obstruction.

No pressure in gas tank when the cap is opened.

I am not sure I understan tghe question. You should not have a lot of pressure in the tank. There are hoses that capture any vapors that are in the tank and eleviate pressure build up.
Most often I have found the engine light on because of gas tank vent, such as loose
or bad gas cap or the vent valve stuck open. The computer does a cycle ever so often
and maintains the vent pressure build up in the gas tank and vapor canister, and if the purge valve sticks open the computer gives a check engine light and code as the pressure is not in the vapor storage tank when called for.
If your worried about no pressure at all then I would change the gas cap and see if this helps

No pressure

Unloaders fail due to carbon deposits on seat. Unloaders can be found in the head or in the tank. Failed unloaders /check valves cause the motor to strain but rarely prevent pressure from building. Events that prevent pressure from building are as follows: restricted intake; cracked or dirty valves in the head; gaskets torn or burned causing pressure to be redirected into the intake. Root problem is caused by carbon deposits and heat. Carbon can be formed if oil is drawn into cylinder due to worn rings or the wrong kind of oil is being used. Compressor oil is formulated to prevent carbon. Engine oil will cause heavy carbon deposts. Replace gaskets worn or broken valves and bad check valves to restore pressure. enjoy

Karcher HD 655 S Does not come up to full pressure

yes...check the check valve. A one-way directional valve, this part is also known as a DUMP valve. It opens when too much pressure builds in the hand wand (when not spraying water) in order to protect the pump, by returning the high pressure to its source reservoir. I suspect the DUMP valve is stuck in open condition (or nearly open).
