I have an HTC 8925 and when I turn it on, it turns on but it doesn't fully load. The only thing it shows is the ATandT logo on a white background. It does not make any sound or beep or anything in that...

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

From your explanation, it sounds like you've downloaded an app or program that has a driver conflict with the phone's operating system. You may need to flash your phone's ROM (operating system) with a new updated version to get it to work properly again. Since you didn't include who your cellular carrier is, I'm going to assume that it is AT&T. If the phone is not an AT&T Branded phone, disregard these instructions.

This phone is also called the HTC Tilt 2 (AT&T) and there is a new ROM download for the phone which should solve your problem. You'll need to follow the directions EXACTLY to flash your phone's ROM - and I do mean exactly!

This software update is intended for the HTC Tilt 2 for AT&T only and users should not load or attempt to load this version on any other device as it may cause serious issues/damage.

Please note that during the update process, the device will be Hard Reset and anything that is NOT part of the Operating System (contacts, calendar, music, etc) will be permanently deleted; always make a point of backing up your device's data on a regular basis!

Before you proceed, please confirm that this software upgrade is a newer version than what is currently loaded on your device. If it is the same version and your device is operating normally, there is no need to reload the software.

To determine the software version running on your device, go to Start > Settings > System Folder > Device Information > Software Information.

Validate that the ROM version is 2.10.502.4 if it is not, you will need to update the software on you device.

Before you run the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU), make sure you check and do the following first:

  • USB sync cable is connected to your device and PC to establish a connection with Activesync/Windows Mobile Device Center. If you don't have ActiveSync installed on your PC already, the CD found inside your handset box can be used to install the application. If you lost the disk, please go to www.microsoft.com >Downloads & Trials> Windows Mobile Downloads and download the appropriate application (ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center) depending on your PC's OS. You will also need Outlook or Outlook express installed in order to backup your contacts, calendars, e-mail, tasks etc.
  • Remove your storage card prior to running the upgrade. Do not put it back into your phone until after the upgrade process is complete.
  • The standby and hibernation modes are disabled on the computer.
  • All running applications on the computer have been closed.
  • Ensure that you device has a battery level of at least 50% (Start > Settings > System Folder > Power > Battery) If the battery "dies" during the upgrade process, there is a chance that the device will not recover and will need to be sent to HTC for repair.
  • The update can take several minutes so set aside time when you will not be interrupted.
  • Do Not interrupt the upgrade process or press any buttons on the device until the process has been completed (the device will reset itself when the update is done).
  • Warning: Installing this update will erase all data stored on the device, restoring your device to the factory default settings. Please be sure to back up any important files to preserve your data.

General Procedure on Installing the ROM Update

  1. Back up your personal data from the Mobile Device to your computer using ActiveSync (Windows XP or sooner)/Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista and Windows 7) or a 3rd party backup utility if you want to ensure you don't lose any of your data.
    • If using a 3rd party backup utility, be sure that you are not backing up the Registry as this will cause issues once restored to the device after the update.
    • You will need to reload any 3rd party applications manually. Once you have created your backup file, be sure to copy the backup file to a storage card (ensure that Storage Card Encryption has been disabled on the device if you have enabled it) or to your PC before proceeding with the ROM update.
  2. On your computer, click on the Download link (below) and save the file to your desktop.
  3. Establish a connection between ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center and your device using the provided USB Data cable.
  4. Locate the ROM file (the one you saved in step 2 above) on your PC and double-click on the file to run the ROM Update Utility (RUU) to install the ROM update to your Mobile Device.
  5. Follow the RUU Wizard prompts. When presented with the readme screen, please read the Readme since it provides a lot of valuable information on the upgrade process and what you can expect during the upgrade process. Check the box beside the "I understand the caution indicated above and has reviewed the Readme" and then press Next to continue. The remaining steps will typically involve checking the check box and pressing the Next or Upgrade button until the upgrade is completed.
  6. Restore your personal data back to your Mobile Device using ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center or the 3rd party backup utility you selected.
HTC Tilt 2 (AT&T) ROM Update 2.10.502.4 ' 08.30.2010 then click on: Download when you get to the HTC Downloads page to download the ROM to your PC. Then begin the install.

I wann update my nokia n 72 software

  1. Go to the Nokia website and download the Phone Software Updatemag-glass_10x10.gif utility. You should also consider reading the FAQ which will help you if you run into problems.

  2. Install the software.

  3. Optionally, follow the phone backup procedure below.

  4. Start the software. The initialization can take a few moments. Once the software has been initialized you should see this screen:

    1.jpg

  5. Click Start. Plug inmag-glass_10x10.gif the USB cable to connect the phone to the PC (and choose 'PC Suite', if there's a choice of modes, as will be the case if you're using a S60 3rd Edition device). You should also plug in the power cable to the phone. Updating the firmware can use a lot of power and by plugging in the power cable you ensure that the power does not fail during the update process. If it does your phone may become unusable.

  6. Click Next. The software will try and connect to your phone and identify it. Once it has done this it will search for updates through your PC's Internet connection.

    4.jpg

  7. If no updates are available then the program will inform you. If updates are available then you will see this screen. Tick the acknowledge box and then click Update to start the update process.

    6.jpg

  8. The software will then download the update from Nokia's servers, before writing the update to the phone. You will see this happen in two stages. The most important stage at which the update should not be interrupted is when writing the update to the phone.

    11.jpg

    13.jpg

  9. Once this stage has been successfully completed you will be informed that you have successfully updated your phone.

  10. Optionally, restore your backup as discussed in the Phone Backup Procedure below.
Notes:
  • In some cases (including one of our trials) the software may report it has failed to update the software. If this occurs at the end of the process then this may not actually be the case. Reboot the phone (you may need to take the battery out) and check the firmware version. Hopefully all will be well.

  • An Internet connection is required to download the firmware update. These firmware updates can be up to 40MB in size (but are usually around half this), which is why broadband is recommended.

  • The Phone Software Update is still being tested. If it does not work first time - try again.

  • If you receive messages about being unable to recognize the phone, being unable to connect the phone, or that the connection is already in use then you should restart your computer and your phone and try again.

Phone Backup ProcedureUpdating the firmware will overwrite any information stored on the internal flash disk (C:). If you wish to preserve this information then you should back it up before updating the firmware. Information stored on the internal disk typically includes data files such as your Contact and Calendar databases, plus application configuration files (including registration codes).
You can use PC Suite to do a full backup or you can use the backup to memory card functionality included on the phone.
Using the phone:
  1. Open the Memory application (usually found in the Tools folder).
  2. Choose Backup phone memory. This will backup the contents of the internal memory to the memory card. This process can take several minutes.
To restore your backup:
  1. Open the Memory application.
  2. Choose Options -> Restore from card. Your backup will be restored. This process can take several minutes. At the end of the procedure the phone will restart.

Firmware OTA - the future?Phones using S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 will ship with FOTA functionality from day one. This stands for Firmware Over The Air and will use the data connection of your phone to download software updates. This allows you to carry out the process outlined above directly from your phone. Updates are started from the Device Manager application. An example of this can be seen in the screenshots below.

Technically speaking you should just return the phone and get a new one.

  1. Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  3. Double-click Backup and Restore.
  4. Select Backup to perform a full backup or select Advanced to perform a backup of specific databases.
  5. Choose a location to save the backup file, then click Save.
Step#4
To perform a clean install of the BlackBerry Device Software, perform the following steps:
  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Double-click the Application Loader icon.
  3. Click Next to start the installation process.
  4. Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK.

My phone Wants me to reset it

Try to connect to it using the desktop software. you can download this from either your service provider website or, blackberry.com If you can connect to it back the phone up using the software then reset it to factory and put the backup on phone using the same software ... it will be for pearl 8100. If you cannot connect to phone you can try the service provider to see if they can recover it. But I am guessing the software below will be able to connect to it

Here is another solution step by step:
1. Install the software from the CD (that you received with the device), or download it from the service provider (AT&T).

2. Delete or rename the vendor.xml file, here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (you're windows file options needs to be set to 'show system files', to see said file...

3. Open Desktop Manager (DM)...

4. Connect the Red Pearl (since am sure that's what you have!)...

5. Doing this will force the pc to see the BlackBerry as new hardware, and thus force it to reload the Operating System (OS)...

6. During the process, select YES to do a backup...

7. The whole process should take about 30-45 minutes...

But, since this has happened so many times, I have to ask myself, is it something you're doing that it causing this? I know the Red Pearls from AT&T have had issues from DAY ONE!

BackupBuddy VFS Pro supports the LifeDrive?

The readme info needs to be updated. The current readme is actually from the previous version and out of date. It should now look something like this.. (note newest info at top, previous version info underneath) BBVFS 3.1.4 New features include: + added option to backup after HotSync + LifeDrive compatibility fixes Bug fixes include: - some password letters were being ignored - fixed problem of backing up files encrypted with the built-in Security app - blank screen/crash on startup - crashes during orphans processing - no scrollbar appeared when there were more than 10 checkpoints in the list - didn't fail gracefully when trying to restore corrupted backup files BBVFS 3.1, 6.05 * Users may now select which card to backup to on devices with more than one card slot * Backup and Restore of T5 internal drive (!) is now supported * Backup of databases with records > 64K is supported, which will allow backup/restore of Photo/Videos on T3/T5/T650 and "VoiceDial" application * Advanced screen now adds new files to the backup set automatically * Wireless updating (via "About" screen) * Implemented a Palm Source Installer package * Many important bug fixes, including: Several issues relating to compression and encryption "Last Backup" being incorrectly set to "NEVER" No longer will soft-reset if no card is mounted on the T5 TUNGSTEN T5 SUPPORT This build includes further refinements to backup and restore on the T5 but we have confirmed with PalmOne that there are some issues with the T5 NVFS implementation that require a patch from to completely resolve. Please contact support@bluenomad.com if you'd like to help with testing. BBVFS 3.07, 1.05 BackupBuddyVFS 3.07 is being released with preliminary support for the T5/Treo 650, although there are still some outstanding issues that we are continuing to investigate; specifically: * Power Users with a (near) full device especially may experience "out of memory" errors and/or random resets; restarting the backup or restore operation will usually allow it to reach completion. This is due to issues with the new "NVFS" file system on these new devices that developers cannot currently work around. We hope that palmOne will issue a patch to fix this, and we will continue to try and find a work-around. * Photos and Videos will not be backed up on the Treo 650/Tungsten T5.
