Question about Samsung HL-P5063W 50" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

We understand that your problem is: I have a Samsung Model HL-P5063W, It won?t turn on anymore. What it is happening is that when the TV was being turned it shows 3 blinking lights. TIMER and LAMP in green color and STANDBY/TEMP in red color. My problem started about 8 weeks ago. So far I have replaced the bulb ($145.0) and color wheel ($114.00) , do not know how many more spare parts I would need to buy to have the TV repaired. I have been told the following can be also wrong powerboard , or power supply , ballast ,fans, sensor board on the colorwheel housing, and light engine . How do I know the part number to order? It seems a lot of spare parts to buy, at this point what is better get a profesional service or continue buying more spare parts, so far I have spend about $250.00 In addition can you help to identify what is the black sticker on the color wheel silver bearing and how check the color wheel connections top the DMD board, especially the flat ribbon cable? I got these information from some information I got on line below" " "Make sure the timing mark (black sticker on the color wheel silver bearing) has not fallen off or been damaged. This can also cause your TV to turn off after a few seconds when it can't detect the colorwheel actually spining." "Be sure to double check you color wheel connections top the DMD board, especially the flat ribbon cable. Although it can go on both ways, it will only make connection one way. I believe the metal connection on that flat ribbon cable will face the rear of the set, but I may be wrong.

Thank you . I understand the light engine is too expensive to replaced
it. I would insist further in the color wheel issue as per your

I am not sure about how to check the version though

here is what I have in the rear back

    SVC Model

    AC 120V 60

Seems to be L3 version? if is that the case I did order the correct
color wheel ( BP96-0067A) from Samsung.

So assuming I have the corect color wheel What I can do now? remove the jumper? or check again the cabling , I am no sure how to check again, I have changed the color wheel several times , but I have not try yet to install back the original one to see if the problem I had initially repeat.

    Dear guru

Finally I got color and sound. I did reset the lamp using user factory reset function with the remote control and
now color are not good. How I can adjust the colors? I tried all from
the remote control and still have the same problem. Do I need to use the
jumper to fix the color that may be reversed color?

About color wheel. I think that the wiring issue is only depending on the replacement sent. There are two different wheels mounted in this TV. The issue is explained here.

Parts are listed here.

Parts such as the light engine will make repair not worth, this parts are often not held in stock by distributors. To give you an idea, here the light engine.

Problem in any case is likely the color wheel. Regarding the stickers, this is used for calibration(CCA), but not all color wheels use the sticker. I think this Samsung has no sticker.

I have Samsung DLP TV 50 inch HL-P5063W

First thing to look at is the color wheel this model uses--usually it will make a high pitched fan like sound but can make a grinding sound also.

If it slows down from the 12,000 or so RPM speed it will cause color issues.
