Question about Yamaha RX-V861 Receiver
Recently purchased a new receiver, RX861 and tried connecting to a low end Phillips DVD that supports DIVX etc... I have the DVD connected to the receiver via component video and tried connecting the digital coax from the DVD to the receiver, but there is no sound. The picture is fine, so I know the component works. I also tried disconnecting the digital coax and using the RCA's into the receiver and no sound as well.
I have checked that the I/O settings on the receiver for output 5 which is the digital coax output are configured for DVD as well as the Digital Audio output on the DVD setup is turned on. There are tow choices PCM or All and neither solve the no sound problem.
Does your TV support "Line In" or "Aux" or "External"? if so plug your "Low end" DVD directly into the back of the tv and verify that you Can get audio. Quite a few DVD players do have a mute feature. Be sure this is turned "off"...accordianman
