I have a Men's Amitron LCD Chrome Watch which I lost the instructions for setting the
time for the hour and minutes. The date is correct, but we just went off daylight savings
time and I am now an hour ahead of everyone who could turn their watch's hour back.

It has four buttons one on top left and on bottom left

one on top right and on bottom right

I can't seem to find the right combo to change the hour back by one hour??

SOURCE: problem winding a Invicta Skeloton Mechanical Stainless Watch

The Tag Heur repair center says an automatic watch must go through an "initiation" process. They recommend winding manually 40 revolution of the crown clockwise. You must wear an automatic watch at least eight hours per day. Repat the initiation if the watch is not worn for 20 hours or so.

SOURCE: second hand movement

Your TAG is fitted with EOL (end of life) feature. This is the cause of that 4 seconds interval movement of seconds hand and thus indicating the time for battery replacement. The timekeeping is not affected by this- it is just warning to replace battery a.s.a.p.
Find your nearest watchmaker and ask for battery replacement.

HOW TO START YOUR AUTOMATIC WATCH

mcdevito75 here,The Automatic feature in your WATCH consists of a counter-weight attached to the MAIN SPRING by a gear that allows a SLOW but steady wind of your watch with the motion of your WRIST, ARM. Once, only in HIGH END watches, today almost all watch manufacturers have this feature in some of their models. Everyone who owns an AUTOMATIC watch knows, you can START your AUTOMATIC watch by WINDING THE STEM and you can continue to wind the stem with no end. This will at least START your AUTOMATIC watch and, this is true to some extent BUT, does this apply to my watch you ask?, Here"s how to tell if your AUTOMATIC watch will START with a few winds of the stem or not. ------- Very Simply, Hold your AUTOMATIC watch to your ear and wind the stem, if you hear a sound as though something is DRAGGING or the stem feels slightly stiff one way you wind the stem and you hear a clicking sound when you wind in the other direction, then you have the TYPE of AUTOMATIC watch that will start with a few winds of the stem, approx, 20 turns or winds. If on the other hand you hear nothing when you wind the stem and the stem feels very loose when turnning then you have the TYPE of AUTOMATIC watch that winds only with the motion of your wrist / arm, to start this type of AUTOMATIC watch, simply hold the watch in your hand and rock your watch back and forth, say from the 12 O"clock to the 6 O"clock, and or, Hold your watch securely in your hand a make circular motions with your hand, any movement to get your watches counter-balance to turn and thus wind your watch. Approx. 1 minute of this extra motion will start your AUTOMATIC watch, then simply wear your watch and your wrists / arm motion will keep it wound.

Do new James Michael pocket watches come with a battery?

Yes, if it is of the battery type

Movement Type
The movement, or inner workings, of a watch are what make up the main timekeeping mechanism. This mechanism measures the passage of time and displays the current time and other information including date, day and month. These movements can be entirely mechanical, entirely electronic or a combination of the two.
Mechanical movements, such as hand wound or automatic watches require winding in order to run. An automatic watch uses the force of gravity to constantly wind itself. Automatic watches have a greater consistency of power and therefore can be more accurate.
An electronic watch employs the use of a tiny quartz crystal that vibrates in the presence of electricity. This type of watch is powered by a battery and their time is regulated by the tiny quartz crystal. This is why most electronic watches are also called quartz watches. Solar powered watches convert energy from light into electricity which is then stored in a rechargeable battery. These watches do not need to have the battery replaced as long as they are regularly exposed to a fairly strong light source.
Kinetic powered watches use a combination of mechanical and electronic elements. Usually a weight rotates with the motion of the wearer?s arm which turns a generator to supply power. It is similar to an automatic watch except that electrical power is generated by the mechanical motion.

1987 rolex president If watchis left sitting for about 10 hours it stops possible problems?

Most Rolex watches have a perpetual motion, that is they have no battery, and rely on wrist/arm movement to keep them going.

This maybe is why your watch stops after you have taken it off.

My watch stops in the night. But works fine when i wear it.any ideas?

Yes, the Movado is a self winder, and it was designed for the sports active wearer, of which the motion of the wearer's arm provides the power to keep the watch wound. Apparently you are not active enough for the watch to be fully wound, so when you take it off, it will use up all of the stored energy in the spring and stop. many self winders will only store enough energy for 8-12 hours of use and will require constant wearing. You could try wearing it to sleep and see if this is enough to keep it wound.

If you feel that this is not the case for your watch, then you may want to have it looked at by a watch maker

If the watch is not worn for a day, is it normal for it to stop or slow down? Vintage SS mens datejust, oyster perpetual.

mcdevito75 here, Yes it is normal, especially if your Rolex is an automatic watch. The motion of your Wrist / Hand keeps your watch wound thru the Counter balance on the movement, as the counter balance turns it winds the mainspring little by little, thus keeping your watch wound. Once you take off your watch, if long enough the mainspring simply un-winds and slows and will eventually stop your watch completely. You can keep your Rolex wound even when you take it off by means of a watch winder, a small machine that will keep your watch in motion, or by hand, by rocking the watch back and firth in your hand for about 30 seconds, say before you gpo to bed at night, this way there is always some wind to your watch.

How do you get started to wind a BMW watch. There is no resistance when I wind the crown. There does nt seem to be any plastic or anything in the way. I ve set the date successfully. Its a BMW Chrono...

mcdevito75 here, BMW watch, nice watch, Actually there are 2 ways to start winding an automatic or self wind watch. Since you feel no resistance in the winder (crown) which if you did, would mean the automatic mechanism is attached by gear to the mainspring and winding the crown (stem) would start the winding process. Without any resistance winding the crown, your automatic mechanism is free-lance as a way of saying, in your watch which simply means your BMW watch winds solely on wrist / arm motion. First, make sure you hear the automatic mechanism moveing inside the watch when you move the watch in almost any direction, now simply hold the watch in your hand and with a rocking motion, say from 12--to 6 rock your hand back and forth for about 30 seconds. You can also make circular motions with the watch in your hand for 30 seconds, any motion that will cause the automatic movement in your watch to move will, start the winding process. After you see you watch has started, simply wear your watch to keep it wound.

Does not keep time

mcdevito75 here, Yes and No, While any sharp, sudden, or very hard motion of your hand, wrist or arm can hurt a watch, it seldom does, most of the time you"d have to actually bang the watch against a hard surface, Wall, Floor etc to effct the movement, and usually you just scratch the crystal or caseing. .

Emporio armani 4211

mcdevito75 here, There are 2 ways to wind your Armani Emporio watch, I'm figureing it"s an automatic watch, on some automatics you can start an initial ticking by winding the stem in any direction, if when you wind the stem you feel any resistance then this is the type of automatic watch you Start with about 20--30 winds of the watch. If on the other hand when winding the stem feels very loose and free, no resistance at all, then this is the type of automatic that relize on pure wrist and arm motion to start ticking, simply hold the watch in your hand and make small circle motions, or rocking motion, you should detect something moveing inside the watch, this is the winding counter balncer it's normal, rock or circle the watch for approx. 30 seconds to get it started. In both cases, after the watch starts, the motion of your wrist / arm keeps it wound as you wear it.
